I would have loved to have given five stars because I loved a lot about this place. The service was excellent, and fast, and I love the use of purely local and seasonal produce. However, there are definitely some improvements to be made, which I do not doubt this team is more than capable of. The ‘garlic bread’ was almost raw, and basically just undercooked pizza dough with some garlic oil which didn’t taste of anything. I feel some actual garlic and parsley would really go a long way to improve this. The vegan special was received really well apart from the amount of oil- far too much. And it also came out absolutely covered with an abundance of red cabbage which wasn’t listed on the menu. Luckily, the customer liked this addition, but for allergies or personal preference I feel this should have been made clear beforehand- if someone couldn’t have/liked this it would have been a waste of time for both parties. Unfortunately the plain vegan option was just that- plain. The oregano was nowhere to be found, and there was minimal fresh basil. The tomato sauce was tasteless, and the dough was swimming with oil- the whole plate was a puddle. With some more seasoning and fresh tomato, and significantly less oil this could be a good dish. I really want this place to do well, and I think with a few tweaks it could be really fantastic- hence the 4 stars. At the moment, I wouldn’t return for the vegan option, however my partner would potentially return for the vegan special if it was less oily. I would be happy to recommend this pizzeria once these minor changes were...
Read moreWe arrived at 6:40pm and didn’t leave until 8:20pm. The service was extremely slow and we saw other people receiving their orders before us who had placed there’s after. After an hour and asking 2 different people how long our order was going to take, we were told it was coming out and we would receive our starter. One of the workers then came over and offered us pickled carrots on the house, which we didn’t eat as it wasn’t the starter we were wanting and also wasn’t a good enough substitute for the wait in our opinion when we ordered a burrata and garlic bread. We were then approached and asked to confirm which pizzas we ordered as they were putting them in now which made us believe our order had never been put through when it was supposed to, hence the long wait for our food. Once we had received the bill there was an extra vegan pizza placed on which we had to ask to remove and only were then apologised to for the wait once we had already paid. I wouldn't recommend this place if you have post dinner plans as one of us also ended up missing the train we had booked home making the experience a lot more annoying. We left feeling very frustrated as we had expected it to not take that long for our food and nothing was done apart from pickled carrots to try and make our experience better. There were two of us in which we ordered one starter and two pizzas so should not have...
Read moreI was looking forward to trying ‘Well Kneeded’ a small local pizza place, but left very disappointed, even though we had used the First Table 50% off.
The pizzas looked inconsistent, one of the margaritas had much less cheese on, and tasted more like a tomato pizza. The pizzas were luke warm and not steaming hot when they arrived.
Our table was at 615pm, was no house salad available, with a choice of very few starters. I asked if a salad could be made, and one was conjured up! It tasted good. (the garlic bread was the size of a pizza base, carb overload).
The service felt lethargic, after one of the diners asked for the drinks menu nobody, returned to ask what they wanted. They didn’t have a drink all meal.
Even trying to use a gift card I received for a birthday gift was difficult, being initially told I couldn’t. (Do not buy these, too much trouble to use them).
The £65 full price for our meal would not seem good value compared to other local places. I would not return and definitely prefer Franca Manca, for a similar but better local experience.
Ps don’t be caught out by their website marketing for ‘50% off Wednesday pizzas’, the small * says that you have to spend over £20 each and only get a discount on the pizza and...
