I have to change my review score from 5 to 1 because despite a great experience on open day the 4 visits since have been appalling. The slowness to get anything to eat is shocking, plan at least 30 minutes to get served, They never have cash so a paper notie has lived in the doorway for weeks explaining awaitign cash delivery. Someone please tell them there are banks nearby. But the worst is the customer service. If 'Quality is our recipe' then you have some ingredients missing in that recipe. The people taking the order can not hear you, you cant hear them. Everytime they ring it up wrong adn you have to correct. Constantly out of items so can never get what you want from an already limited menu. The long wait woudl be palatable if it was not for the complete rudeness and dismisivenes of those handing off the items to you. No one ever checks its your order. Today I didnt get a straw with my frosty and every time previous one was handed to me with a spoon at the collection point. So today I had my bg passed to me and the person walked away. I had to call three times for him to come back and ask for a straw. He just pointed and said ' over there' which was a hand sanitiser machine. I said I normally get given one with my order. He said you never have its over there. I rpesume he meant between the two coke machines. So despite coming previously and never having to do this I had to manouver around the two queses for the coke machine to find a straw that everyone else has touched. Thanks. I do not knwo why it is so hard to give me a straw from the counter ike you gave me a spoon with the frosty. On previous visits I have been iven wrong orders, waited 45 minutes after ordering. For breakfast. i have also seen kitchen staff sweating and rubbing their hands and then handling foods and items for customers with no handwashing. This meant I have reached out to customer services via their complaints procedure adn also on teh receipt for asking for feedback but never hear back. Today the server gave free food to two customers tellign the supervisor they were there friends. But they were nto friends. The server said he would give them free food for a 5 star review. So any 5 star reviews are bribed. I am deeply saddened by how awful this place is. I was so excited for it to come and it is not worthy of the name.
Visited on the evening of opening day. Queue was up then road and it was raining. But a lovely member of the team was offering Wendyâs umbrellas to keep us dry. Despite the large queues and the first day it went quite quick. Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful despite obviously being under pressure and stress. I ordered a daves double with chilli cheese fries and a vanilla frostie. It tasted so fresh. And the price was very reasonable for such a good portion and high quality product. They have regenerated the old Barclays Bank in Wellesley Road and kept the gorgeous window facade and made the most of the architecture to have an open and light interior with plenty of space. They can really add more seating and it wouldn't be crowded. I was pleased to see an all gender toilet that was spacious and clean. It was a brilliant experience backed by brilliant food. I hope...
Read moreI used to love Wendyâs, I remember them opening in Charing Cross back in the day and always used them on every trip to Central London. Over in the USA they didnât fail me (unlike my one MaccyD visit over there). So imagine my delight to find they were back and only a 10minute walk from my house?
I opted to wait whilst they resolved their well documented opening issues and only visited today 21Dec21.
Only 1 till ... folk moaning but it wasn't yet midday.
I went for a baconator medium meal. ..easy ? Nah, apparently not đ„
I watched my wrapped burger sitting there as other orders were handled, I hoped the area was hot. Remember my order was for a burger & fries with a cup to serve myself a drink... they'd done the difficult bit but insisted on working their way down larger complicated orders before letting me have mine.
The burgers were only just cooked, still pink in the middle (I spat those bits out). Maybe that's why it had to sit there? Even so the other earlier orders didn't have resting time for their burgers - it made no sense for a supposedly trained team to operate like that.
With no obvious leader in evidence they were left to flounder - focussed on only their one task at a time in strict rotation.
So, the operation was poor, and the burger undercooked, and yet somehow the bacon seemed harder than Kevlar, I couldnât bite through it or even snap it. No meat for this carnivore then đ„
So far only the pitiful cold bits were any good, the bun was nothing marvellous but at least edible.
The cola was just that, but a big health risk, I really donât like having the cups laid out and open in front of the public during a pandemic where every customer can breathe all over them.
There was a shield to protect the server, but not those cups.
The fries were cold before I could finish them, and notably the smallest portion Iâve ever been given.
I checked my receipt, it wasnât a kids meal, but the contents of my cardboard container didnât even reach the top.
So basically I paid ÂŁ8.29 for a cup of cola ... laughable
I left there hungry and miserable.
There is nothing they can do for me except close and soon, maybe a proper take-away could get the location instead?
I went around the corner to Fillings. Hot freshly prepped delicious...
Read moreAlright hear me now, Iâve been meaning to go here for almost two years since they first opened in Croydon. Now ignoring the location of the fast food chain fresh from America. I had high hopes mostly based of misguided tiktokers but nevertheless I was excited. I went in with a friend and a plan, to try everything I would try if were to go multiple times and leave with no regrets. This led to me spending the most amount of money Iâve spent in a fast food chain, even beating five guys. I spent ÂŁ25 on 5 items. Which to be honest isnât that bad for three burgers, fries and a dessert I also got a refillable soft drink.
When I entered the establishment and two things caught my eyes, one was how empty it was and the second was how dirty it was but we move. I got the spicy chicken sandwich, the baconator, and Daveâs single. I also got a vanilla frosty because of all the good things I heard about it. I am not going to go into much detail because ultimately I was disappointed but I do think you guys deserve the truth incase you get as intrigued as me but if you want you should go and try it. As far as burgers go they are better than McDonaldâs in terms of freshness but worse than Burger King in terms of taste which is the most important part. The chicken sandwich lacked the crispness I wanted and paled in comparison to McDonaldâs which was sad, the McSpicy or even the McCrispy trumps it. The baconator was a hefty one but a positive is that their bacon was crispy and cooked well. All the burgers had the generic ketchup and Mayo combo, no special sauces which was another disappointment . They did stay warm for some time which was nice. The vanilla frosty reminded me of the ice cream we used to get in small styrofoam containers in primary it was not good. The fries were nice tho, crispy fluffy and decent potato content.
