My first time here to have a late lunch. I was surprised to see so many chefs and so few waiting staff which I believe creates problems as they seem to be run ragged trying to keep up on their visiting clientele. In return this ratio reflects on clients having to wait around in hope that the floor staff notice a need for their attention, ten chefs to two waiting staff is rediculous. I observed one chef at work who didn't seem to realise having his jacket sleeves brushing the Gyoza as he inspected each one by hand adds no flavour to the dish but merely cross contamines, so happy I decided not to order those. I also noted that the place in general looks clean but from my seat I noticed a whole area under the grill where the switches and knobs to operate the device which for some reason has never been cleaned.....it was rather vile. Which then makes me wonder just how high is cleaning on their list of things to do. I ordered a Wagamama Ramen dish to eat in and Harusame which is a cold noodle salad for r'on.....and I was disappointed with the ramen. It looked delious but the broth lacked flavour, the prawns were over cooked but it was not inedible, just not worth £12.50 I paid for it. The Harusame Chicken however was very nice, refreshing and a definite have-again for me although it took almost 15 mins to arrive and I had to ask 3 times for it. I'm not sure about returning to this Wagamama....maybe a different location might be a better choice.

We as a couple happily spent £99.50 on a range of food items, with the Duck Bonduri being a blessed highlight of our feast. We gladly added £20 as a tip, but highlighted to the polite and courteous service staff, that we wanted to tip £27.50, but for three occasions when glass was thrown into their bin areas unnecessarily loudly, accidentally and indirectly interrupting our conversation. It was a quiet Tuesday night, whilst busy for deliveries, so I advised as a former (relatively) successfully GM for a Pub Master Pub/Restaurant, that you can be quick when disposing of glass, without making a loud crashing noise into the bins behind the bar. Overall if you are in the Croydon area, you should absolutely visit this branch! If it weren't for pending night time work commitments and my partner returning overseas to her own ongoing commitments, we would mark our calendars for a return trip in September. If I were still a GM and were in need of hiring kitchen staff/chefs, my hypothetical interview with anyone from the Kitchen staff working Tuesday 12/08/25, would be short and to the point. This is because it's highly unlikely that any team member coming to me for said hypothetical position, wouldn't be hired on the spot, after checking one or two compulsory details! Bravo! Thank you Croydon Wagamama Team!

The first thing I want to say is Wagamama is well lit which is nice to some extent, it is very spacious anyway but the bright light and white walls add to this. The toilet is downstairs which is a little annoying but I guess it's more hygienic because let's face it who wants to smell those smells when eating (right?) Why i gave Wagamama three stars out of five? Because honestly I feel they lack authenticity, the dishes are well presented they look the part, they're very colourful and fairly nice on your palette but I don't feel it's a good enough interpretation but that is just my opinion I would still recommend it a great place to go with your family or frirnds and they have kids menus which I think is always a plus. The staff are friendly and polite but I feel they you may become less so when under pressure it's a great last minute option if you decide to dine out last minute but I would always try and go for something more authentic if you do go find something you like and stick to it my opinion firecracker is the dish to have.

The chain in Croydon does not exactly deliver the high quality experience I'd expect from Wagamama. I've been to some of the other branches of the company and this one feels kind of smallish and like it was put together in a quick, inconsiderate matter. The place is somehow tight and the seats were very limited. This means that your you and the squad might not be able to sit all together.

We were a group of seven and when the staff saw us, they started rolling their eyes like we were some kind of intruders. Restaurants must always treat good their clients and to get as much customers as possible and not drive them away with this kind of attitude.

We finally took seats and I happened to visit Wagamama on a very busy day, with a continuous turnover of people. I usually like eating alone without too much people buzzing around, but we were already there and being that hungry, we wouldn't mind the chatter.

The food was pretty standard for the chain: still delicious and well-prepared, yet not so generous in portions. I had some Ramen and the Gyoza. I assume everyone knows what Ramen is, and the Gyoza is some sort of Japanese dumplings. Everything was tasty and rich in flavours. I think all of us enjoyed our meals. Oh, if only the food had come faster to our table, that would be splendid. I'm not usually the impatient type of person, but I don't like waiting too long when I'm hungry. I assume this was because of the busy hour and that would be the second note that I'd have in mind the next time I decide to come here.

It will be a three-star rate. I know that my complaints may seem minor, but there are plenty of other restaurants where they would love to have a large group like ours for dinner and would offer us seats on a single table. However, you can easily get filled with delicious Japanese food for under £10 so that's a big plus. All of that being said, the restaurant is worth a visit, but keep in...

I’ve purchased a £40 gift card at the beginning of July and went to this very branch in Croydon as it’s located close to my house. I’ve ordered 3 items : Chicken ramen , chicken tandoori and a coconut ice cream on 08.07.2023 and the total was £26. I’ve used my gift card and went outside for a quick walk. 10-15 minutes later I’ve returned to the restaurant and have been given my takeaway order and went home. About a week later , I’ve visited another Wagamama location in central London and wanted to order some food and use the leftover balance of my gift card but the staff told me there’s no balance in it. Managers from the store told me the total balance of £40 has been used and that I should give a call to the Croydon branch and they can fetch the information through the system by date and order details.

When I was speaking to the Croydon branch manager , she asked me for my receipt 7-10 days after I’ve made my order ,which is absolutely ridiculous!

It’s so crooked how a member of staff has abused my balance and I got scammed with £14 without using them.

The situation to this day hasn’t been resolved ,nor my balance of £14 restored and the amount doesn’t matter at all ,it’s a principles that matter to me. Female team member that serviced me didn’t acknowledge my presence for the first 4-5 minutes , however the food preparation and quality was good.

In general :1/5 stars is deserved and the only star goes to the...
