Wilson's, a great option for a chilled fancy and tasty dinner!
With my partner, we decided to finaly try out this new restaurant in Ladywell. We got lucky to get a table while on the waiting list and it was definitely worth the wait.
The staff gave us a warm welcome, most of whom we know and love from Oscar café and Plenty shop of the same street.
The decors and atmosphere are of very good touch, making it a comfy and chilled place for drinks and food.
We tried the rhubarb spritz and soda to start off, which were very refreshing, with the Copa charcuterie and breads plate.
We shared 3 starters: goats cheese profiteroles, beef shin nuggets and asparagus in filo with dippy egg. They all came very nicely plated, particularly loving the asparagus presentation as well as the tasty horseradish cream coming with the nugggets, also very meaty.
We then shared the lamb navarin with potatoes : no need to say that it was deliciously melting in the mouth. The crispy onions were a lovely surprise and tasty addition to the butterhead lettuce side. We were recommended a Côtes du Rhone red wine which was the perfect pairing for the lamb.
Oh and we tried the rhubarb millefeuille for dessert which they nailed on the sweetness level, only coming from the rubbard itself.
The food delivery was fast but timely, always letting us have plenty of time in between the courses.
The bill for both of us came to £125 including the charge, which we thought was reasonable for the food and drink's quality and quantity.
We will be back to check some of the other dishes as we have been told the menu is changing partially weekly, depending on seasonal goodies.
This is a very welcome addition to Ladywell neirgbourhood, and a place that deserves to be listed on...
Read moreI think we may have been unlucky and visited on an off day as I have only heard good things about Wilson’s. This is definitely one of the more expensive restaurants in the area and for us the quality of food did not justify the price. The starters were very good but the mains were stodgy, single flavoured and really really salty. We had a red wine by the glass which came ice cold which we were not expecting and the broccoli side was wet, floppy & overpriced. Our waitress was really helpful and friendly, although due to sitting in the thoroughfare (even though other tables stayed empty) we couldn’t hear everything she said and she couldn’t hear us. One member of staff was ill and blowing their nose right next to us whilst we were eating, which was a bit gross. I think if we go back we’d go when there is a set menu and ask to sit...
Read moreOne of the best dining experiences I have ever had. We went on a very busy Saturday before Christmas, but despite that everything was perfect.
First up, the food. Some of the most delicious food I have eaten. The starters were small but perfectly formed, delicious bites that both of us said were a party in the mouth. The main courses were then so delicious, with even the potatoes on the side so delicious. I skipped desert as so full, but my companion really enjoyed the tiramisu.
In terms of atmosphere, the venue is so wonderfully decorated with classy interior which is cozy and makes the venue feel very intimate.
The staff are also delightful and wonderful, making time to ensure they still had a chat with us and ensuring a good wine selection.
Will definitely be back, but make sure to book (at least at...
