Wimpy — Restaurant in London

I ordered a take away vegan meal at the Upminster Branch on Saturday 22nd January at around 7.30 pm which cost £12.75. The coffee was fine however the meal was not.

When I got home to Hornchurch the branch had managed to mix up my meal with one milk shake which was apparantly a Deliveroo order.

So this meant I had to drive all the way back to the branch in freezing weather to pick up the right order.

I asked for a small discount on the price £2 for the inconvenience. This is not unreasonable. The manager apparantly couldn't do this because it was a genuine mistake.

Whilst I completely understand mistakes do happen when I got my food home it was of course stone cold.

Since it was close to the branch closing time I didn't want another visit to the branch.

The manager should have offered a discount for the error. I suppose the policy is some people try it on. However, the branch knew this was not the case here.

But at the very least my meal should have been replaced with a hot replacement.

In this instance I will have to regrettably take my complaint further unless the owner can offer a fair and proper...

A blast from the past. Have good memories of Wimpy from the 70s as a kid. Would it live up to it. Well I’m happy to say yes it did. I ordered the quarter pounder and the double cheese burger. Both arrived and were hot and very tasty. The burger itself seems to have retained the Wimpy taste. The highlight was the sauce though which I think is even better than the MacDonalds Big Mac sauce. I also added a potion of chips which were very large.

The restaurant was very clean and the booths all spotless. Staff were very polite and greeted you on arrival to see if you were eat in or take away. Order was taken quickly and arrived nice and hot.

Only negatives are the price was a little on the high side. The mens toilet though clean was Very small with just one lavatory.

And the biggest minus was parking. None at all. It’s on the high street almost next to Upminster Station. Very busy and I guess a good reason for its location with a lot of pedestrian traffic . Not so good for those with cars. I had to park in a side street with a 15 min walk.

All in all nice to see Wimpy back. And I very much hope...

Wasn't very busy when I visited, but they have done a good job with the refurbished restaurant. The breakfast menu is available till 12, it you can order from the main menu at any time. They still cook the food to order, so that's a nice touch. Would be nice if they did free refills for basic tea and coffee, but they don't. Worth a visit if you want something over and above a Mcdonalds. Selection of chicken and salad based meals, plus the usual shakes...
