Wow Simply Japanese — Restaurant in London

Small but perfectly formed Japanese place tucked away on Crouch Hill. Has been around for a while and they serve excellent food for reasonable prices. We shared starters so I had the pleasure of trying the deep fried squid, gyoza and a crab salad. All were good, although perhaps a little small. As a main I had the sirloin chilli steak, which came in a slightly curried spicy sauce accompanied by fried veg. Disappointingly it was cooked near well done, despite me requesting medium rare. Also the veg was lukewarm at best- but neither of these issues took away from what was a pretty damn good dish. Quite a unique preparation and a nice change from the standard katsu/teriyaki options of most Japanese restaurants in London. The meat was very good indeed, very lean and succulent. For desert I had green tea ice cream which was nice but not very exciting, although I poached a bit of the banana tempura from an adjacent plate and was impressed. All in all a decent nosh that I would definitely come back to...

Wow Simply Japanese is absolutely fantastic. Our fave spot in Crouch and we've tried everywhere. The staff are efficient, kind and welcoming and the food is incredible. There's so much bad sushi in London but not here - it's delicious. If they had exposed wood everywhere and played a few bangers they'd be all over the eating out guides but they are fuss free, simple and know that their food speaks for itself. We eat in often but their take away is great too. It always arrives quickly - the tempura hot and crispy and never soggy and the sushi perfect. TBH they were the only takeaway we had in lock down as everything so fresh. I'd highly recommend the crazy roll and dragon rolls and the tempura prawns are perfect. Maybe treat yourself to a sashimi boat if it's a special occasion. A thoughtful business that deserves your money after an awful year and definitely won't disappoint a seasoned sushi lover (and I genuinely think the review a few down trying to "redress the balance" is reviewing the wrong...

Excellent service at this local sushi place. The venue was very clean and the staff super nice.

Food was perfectly cooked, presented and the flavours and quality of produces were excellent.

We ordered the Octopus salad that was a complete new experience of flavour, textures and flavour combinations. We got the Wow roll, Dragon Roll and the Crazy roll. All of them were delicious. We also got the pickles and the chicken Udon noodles. For dessert, the banana tempura which was supposed to come with vanilla Icecream but I asked if it could be with salted caramel and the lovely lady prepared it with salted caramel Icecream which made me even happier about the whole experience. The moshi Icecream was crazily delicious.

I recommend this place a lot. The prices an quality are excellent.
