Terrible turn
Normally not one to post a review but this has to be said.
This used to be a really lovely place. When they still had the lady in whom clearly put all of it together and completely placed herself and her passion into her work.
Unfortunately she doesn't work here anymore. Now the place is sinking faster then the Titanic,
The so called "owner" clearly does not have any experience in the sector. And still hasn't learned how to make a decent coffee. Coffee is regularly burnt and bitter. I feel bad for the supplier as it's a really lovely coffee blend.
When the "owner" is not talking away for 30 mins with the same story he's said over a 100 times before. He'd be smoking and coming back indoors without washing his hands. Stand extremely close to his YOUNG FEMALE staff. It's very uncomforting to see and even the girls seem very uncomfortable with it. But maybe it's complete ignorance and arrogance on his side.
Unfortunately he's not the only issue faced in this shop. The chef doesn't seem to wear any hair nets or even a apron. Which is not a pretty view as his belly sticks and hangs out a remarkable amount. Also the amount he goes for a cigarette baffles me. Specially when the shop never seems to have much stock of food.
Ps : if this gets taking...
Read moreWhat a quirky little gem, I have walked pat a number of times when in Maidstone as I usually go to Greggs for a brew and bite, however I'm drifting towards using more small local business' for as much as I can so today I thought I'd check this place out. I'm so glad I did, I was warmly received by , I guess, the owner, George I think who provided me with a nice coffee and portion of toast, I noted a pretty decent menu not to costly. The cafe itself reminded me of the Babalu Cafe in Reykjavik, it has its own identity, displays art, has books and board games and comfy chairs and other seating. This will be my go to place when in Maidstone now. I also noted from their FB page that they do events so check it out and support a local small business over...
Read moreThe best coffee I’ve had in a long time, and after speaking to the owner and discovering the coffee is locally sourced, I’m not surprised.
I ordered a flat white from the very welcoming and friendly staff and sat in their warm and comfortable cafe. The atmosphere is relaxing and homely, and I was deeply fascinated by their collection of board games and books- due to my visit only being short I didn’t get the opportunity to play or read anything, but I look forward to returning and doing so in the future.
I didn’t order any food but their menus looked great, so much so that I plan to return for a meal soon.
Overall a wonderful experience. I felt like more than just a customer, and the coffee was superb. Will be returning...
