Hi, I’m a support worker for adults with learning disabilities, autism and mental health issues. I visited your cafe last Friday 9th May with one of my clients I support who is also non verbal and can only communicate by using his mobile phone to chat with people. I just wanted to say a member of your staff (Sarah) was so patient and understanding with my client and give him the time to type his conversation between them and times to count his money to see what he could afford to buy in the café. I have worked as a support worker within the community and residential settings for over 20 years now and you don’t often come across that many people within the community that are so respectful and laid-back with people with disabilities, anxiety and communication problems such as the clients I support. Once my client had counted his money and chose what he wanted there was a discussion between you both regarding what he requested and within a few seconds you reassured him that you could do the drink that he really wanted. Again you gave my client time once he had paid to put everything back in his bag, even though there were 2 or 3 customers waiting. when we left the café my client had a big smile on his face and kept telling me within a conversation we were having all the way back home on the bus how emotionally happy he was that someone gave him the respect regarding his disability whilst out in the community as this is not always the case. Once again I would like to thank you for your kindness, respect and time. A member of staff like this is unique to the community and we are very lucky to have you working in this café and that I’m sure my client and myself will visit again soon. Thanks...
Read moreI recently had a terrible experience that left me feeling disappointed and frustrated. My girlfriend and I visited the establishment with specific ice cream flavors in mind that we wanted into our bubble wraps, which was in the fridge displayed outside but we were met with inflexible and unaccommodating service.
Despite the fact that the flavors we wanted were being sold separately, the waitress refused to customize our orders, stating that we could only choose from what was on the menu. We explained that we were willing to pay extra for the flavors we wanted, but our requests fell on deaf ears.
We went ahead and ordered two bubble wraps anyway and asked if they could replace the bubble wrap ice cream flavour with the one flavour we wish which was from the display fridge outside at the entry, of course we’ll pay the this as a 2 extra ice creams, but to our dismay, we were served the ice cream we wanted separately.
The attitude of the waitress was also incredibly rude and unwelcoming, making us feel like we were a burden to her, after she bring the bubble wraps and ice cream to our table she stated...
Read moreVisited this cafe last week whilst visiting family in Maidstone. It was our daughters birthday so we were treating her to lunch. There were six of us, we placed our order on entry, paid in advance, which, had we known how bad the meal and service was, we would have refused to pay. My husband ordered a sausage roll which was to be heated, the other options were poached eggs on avocado, a panini, a full English and a baked potato. My husbands came first. He ate it alone, we waited and waited. He went to seek assistance, they had forgotten the rest of the order. Twenty minutes later the rest of the order arrived, minus the panini! The calibre of food was dreadful, the poached eggs were like bullets. The whole birthday treat was ruined. The staff were pleasant enough, but there needed to be someone more senior to guide them. They actually looked like they were drowning. When we left, we passed a tiny room with one chap in it, almost hidden by dishes in a sink. This place may be fine for a slice of cake and a coffee, but...
