First off just look at my previous reviews; I don't do bad ones, but this was just the worst. I booked here for my partners birthday, based on previous reviews and the Instagram. I genuinely believe our experience could have been close to 5* if we were sat 3 tables down, which emphasises just how bad our service from this individual was.
The start was promising; we got a voucher for my partners birthday that entitled her to a free drink. Nice touch and unexpected.
We waited a while to get a drinks order, and then an even longer while to get a food order, mainly due to our server being on her phone or talking to the bar staff. At this point we were then told the thing i wanted was out of stock. Wouldn't have been a major dilemma, but the fact that the table next to me got it (having ordered 10 min prior, and we could've ordered straight after but server decided to go to talk to another waitress) showed that the only reason i didn't get it was down to the slow service. That's annoying, but then would not really be a game changer, was just in my head that we should've been informed prior.
Food was ok. The annoying bit for my partner was she asked for no chilli in her meal, and was not told about any spice etc that would remain, so couldn't really finish hers (more of a pallet issue, but again no real guidance from server). I had the beef chilli, which was OK, but when watching the table next to me eat the meal i really wanted and would've got if my server was quicker was a bit underwhelming and tbf lacking actual meat, was just kidney beans really.
No check back at all, and when we finished our meals, there was no check how things were, was just silence and snatching away of plates. We were not offered dessert menus either, had to ask another server for that after 10 minutes.
This is after having to chase our server for drinks as well, as she was too busy talking to anyone other than guests, and would rather be on her phone.
When we had the dessert menu, after asking i was told by the new server that they only lacked cream for sundaes. 10 minutes later, our original server ran over to tell us that actually there was only one dessert left due to "a busy day". Like i get a busy day affects stock levels, but when you've been negligent all through, and we've only lost out on meals for you being preoccupied talking or being on your phone, it's frustrating.
We decided not to get a dessert, and then waited a while to track our server down to get the bill. We then waited another 15 minutes to get said bill as she wandered to the kitchen, or the bar, or the front door, anywhere other than actually getting the bill. She then saw me getting agitated, and said she'd get it, before not actually getting it, choosing to talk to a table not in her section. We had another server give it us, and the only reason i gave a service charge was because it was already added and felt this guy didn't deserve the awkwardness of me asking to take it off. I paused when he asked and said yeah, and nothing was said about it, it's like they know the service was poor, but just didn't want to bring it up. Credit to the original server though; she remembered to say goodbye... more than expected from previous showings.
The server on the other section seemed really quick, attentive and chatty. I reckon if we had him, we'd have had the meals we wanted, got drinks when needed, and been happy. But no, we were dealt with a woman who just didn't seem to care, and what should have been a nice celebration ended up being a rush to get out. Chefs, you have a tough job, and i appreciate your efforts, it's the servers that have...
Read moreMy wife and I were in Manchester for the day and eating here was a priority because it looked insane. The restaurant was very busy but we luckily got a table immediately. The service was spot on throughout. The waitress was very friendly and patient whilst we decided what we wanted. She was honest and offered good recommendations on the menu. Despite it being busy and lots of other tables to deal with staff were very attentive and made sure that we were alright. I went with the Boursin bites for starters (recommendation for waitress) and the meat one Chicago deep dish. My wife got the garlic butter tater tots and the fried chicken doughrito for main. The Boursin bites tasted great and they came with a delicious marinara sauce. However, I did notice that the cheese wasn’t as hot in the centre so maybe could have been cooked for longer. Also, £7 for 3 bites is a little pricey. Tater tots were probably the best tater tots I’ve ever had. They were so moreish. However, my wife could only eat the ones that didn’t have Parmesan sprinkled on top because she’s not a lover of smelly cheese. It was surprisingly that they came with Parmesan because it didn’t say that on the menu. These were much more affordable at £5 and the portion was a decent size. Now the main event. I went with the 7 inch pizza although I did try and order the 10 inch but the waitress said that it is more appropriate for 2/3 people (she clearly doesn’t know me) so I reluctantly went with the smaller one. To be fair 90% of the people in the restaurant couldn’t finish their meal so it was probably better to err on the side of caution. Anyway, the pizza was very good. Was it the best pizza I’ve ever had? Certainly not. But was unique as I’ve never had a Chicago deep dish before. It was extremely cheesy and the crust was hard and thick. It tasted really nice. The hot honey on the pizza was a game changer. It was knife and fork job because eating with hands was a little messy. The pizza was a little on the greasy side but I think that’s unavoidable. I thoroughly enjoyed the pizza/pie (and yes I ate every last bit) but I’d say I probably prefer a traditional pizza. The doughrito was very interesting. It’s basically pizza dough wrapped like a burrito. I had never seen anything like it before. It was very filling as my wife couldn’t finish it (luckily I was there to the rescue) but it did taste good. Maybe not overly special and more of gimmick but we are glad we tried it. Again, it’s more of a knife and fork job unless you don’t mind getting sticky. The waitress kindly gave us the buffalo sauce on the side as the wife can’t handle much heat. Dipping it into the sauce enhanced the flavour. In my opinion the main course was a little expensive at £15 for my deep dish and £14 for the doughrito. Although, both are very filling so not too bad. Overall, we enjoyed our meal here. Staff were superb. The atmosphere was nice and the food was really good. Would I come again? Probably yes, as they appear to change their menu now and again which is a good thing. I wish Google would introduce half star scoring as this is a 4.5 star all day long. Unfortunately i don’t think it’s worthy of a 5 so I’ll have to...
Read moreI came across this restaurant on instagram and read the reviews and thought I had to give this place a try, it’s a bit of a travel(about an hour) but why not. My son’s 13 th birthday was coming up and thought let’s go for it.
When we arrived we were treated by what we later found out was the manager. It wasn’t the friendliest of welcomes, must have been having a bad day! The table was ready for us, however we did say we needed a high chair when booking and this wasn’t set out.
The waitress who served us was lovely, really friendly and helpful. Having not been before I asked what she would recommend and she pointed a few of her personal favourites out which was helpful.
Food came in a timely manner and was nice to be fair, something different and certainly worth a visit. We had a mixture of dishes but my favourite was the short rib and chilli, would definitely recommend.
At the end of the meal we asked for the bill. We were advised that there is a 10% service charge added but this isn’t mandatory and could be taken off the bill. I always feel obliged to pay generally but on this occasion I chose not too. I explained to the waitress why and my reasons were on my booking, the form asks is the visit for a special occasion to which I added Birthday and also that I was in need of a high chair. Maybe I’m old school but for me if your asking for this information, surely this should be acknowledged in some way, ie have the high chair ready, maybe greet customers celebrating something ie birthday with a whose special day is it, wish them happy birthday etc, it’s the little things that make a difference but we had nothing throughout the meal.
When I explained this the waitress check my booking and apologised for this, she said she would provide feedback to the manager, who as I mentioned earlier was the guy who greeted us. The most disappointing things was the waitress went over to the manager who was sat close by at the bar and explained what I’d said, he just dismissed it and provided no acknowledgement at all, a simple apology would have been nice. But clearly our custom didn’t matter the guy was simply rude in my opinion so for this and his not so happy disposition I will not return again!
Hope this helps improve things for...
