I have been to Lucky over 5 times now for dinner and at the start I was definitely gatekeeping it because it was that amazing. When I say I have tried sushi all around the UK from the big named restaurants to small authentic Japanese restaurants and this is BY FAR the best one, me and my partner will always compare where we are eating sushi to Lucky and it never compares. I have not only tried sushi all around the UK but also many countries that I have visited and Lucky always is still the standout. The way that the restaurant is so authentically itself as well as intimate, it is the vibe for any occasion, from date night to a catchup with friends or colleagues after work as well as any special occasion. The service is warm and friendly and cannot fault it. The drinks are fantastic and enough said about the food. Stand outs for me are the Dragon Roll, Beef Tataki and the Chicken Karaage. Every dish feels incredibly fresh, bursting with flavour that always leaves a lasting impression on me. One of the best things about Lucky Ramen and Sushi is the unbeatable value for money, especially with their 50% off deal from Monday through Wednesday. It's rare to find such high-quality food at such affordable prices. Even the decor is simple and all you could ask for, (especially to get a picture for the Instagram story). The only possible recommendation to make this restaurant better - even if that is possible, is to start taking online reservations or expanding. However, I also feel that could take away from the authenticity of this place which I would NEVER want to change!! I have a love for food and certainly a love for this place and will continue to make the hour journey that is soooo worth it. Hats off to the bar staff, the waiters, waitresses', the ramen chef and the sushi chef, you are all incredible. Lucky Ramen and Sushi is a gem that deserves all the praise it receives. I have added some pictures from a few of my visits to Lucky and the food is just as exceptional (if not more) than it looks. TRUST ME.

I walked past this late night ramen bar a few months back, it was closed but the menu looked good so I whacked it on my hotlist and last night I finally got to try it out. It's sooo good. The menu has been updated to the one showing online, (if you want it - shout me up). Anyway I planned to order the Beef Tataki to start but changed it to the King Scallops which is their signature starter dish which is the scallops, obvs, with egg yolk, masago, asian chives, yuzu soy and sesame oil. Was boss! The Tuna Suraisu sounded all kinds of amazing too. The main dish you can see is the Sakata which has a spicy creamy broth, fried chicken, charred oyster mushrooms, ajitama egg, confit garlic, pickled bamboo, shiitake, sesames, crispy chili oil and a wee bit of nori on the side. And yes it is as good as it sounds. I'm defo going back to try the other dishes and their sushi Such an awesome place and really nice to visit on a rainy night in Manchester. This would make a great date night spot. There is like 12-14 covers, max, with some additional seats at the bar - but it's walk ins only so keep that in mind. You don't wait long for the food, all the staff are dead nice, and there loads of them, the lighting is great and the playlist also very good, (Cleo Sol, Drake and Kehlani...) If you don't believe me l asked Jade if she'd been there earlier on in the night and she said it was amazing. And if you know, you Know that if @jadelijadelijadeli says a food place is amazing you know it's gonna be A* @lucky_ramenandsushi @mule_manchester Manchester, I Love You! #ramen #manchester #japanese #japanesefood #noodles

- edamame £4.90 - kasaoka £14.90 - tantanmen £14.90 this was actually my second attempt at getting a table at lücky bc the first time the waiting time was expected 40/50 minutes. this time, we came at opening time so we were basically the first customers but within just half an hour, it was rammed and a queue started to build up. i didn’t have high expectations for the edamame bc 90% of the time it tastes the same but bc they chargrill it here, it had so much more depth! the salt and chilli seasoning was just right too so i didn’t think it needed the soy sauce. their new menu has an extensive range of ramens and i really like how many components go into each bowl! whilst the tantanmen was a hearty bowl of ramen, i think it needed more flavour and spice to be considered a tantanmen. it felt more like they added chilli oil to a standard broth rather than the chilli and spices being infused into the broth. the temperature was slightly off-putting for me bc even though the broth was steaming hot, all the components were at best room temp (almost even cold). i imagine this is bc the components are all cooked separately and simply put together when it’s about to be served but this is expected with a wide menu but a small kitchen. the service is really friendly and welcoming and overall, i did enjoy my meal here so i would come back to try the other ramens or even the sushi as those are highly praised too but i wouldn’t necessarily rush back or queue.

Before heading to a gig, my partner and I popped into Lucky Ramen for a quick bite. We were on a tight schedule and honestly didn’t expect to get a table, as the place was buzzing when we arrived. It’s a really compact little spot with limited seating, so we thought we might be out of luck, but the staff kindly gestured us in and managed to arrange a table for us. That warm welcome definitely set the tone.

Despite the small space, it didn’t feel rushed or chaotic. It seems like the kind of place where people eat and move on, typical of ramen joints, so the turnover helps.

We noticed a quirky cocktail menu however slightly disappointed that there was no sake on offer, which feels like a missed opportunity. Still, the drinks were a win: Both drinks we ordered though were surprisingly well-balanced and really tasty.

To start, we shared some salmon nigiri and tuna sashimi. The salmon was fresh and buttery, really lovely. The tuna, on the other hand, was a bit underwhelming. The texture and colouring felt a little artificial, which was a shame.

For mains, I went with the spicy Hakata ramen, minced pork, slices of pork belly, and a rich, deeply savoury broth that really impressed me. My partner had the classic tonkotsu. Both bowls came with perfectly gooey eggs and generous toppings. The broth on mine had this comforting vibe, but would have liked an opportunity to make it spicier with condiments. I also usually lean toward udon too when available but this was genuinely one of the best ramen bowls I’ve had in a while.

Would we come back? Definitely. It's not fancy, and it’s a tight squeeze inside but if you're after flavour-packed ramen with character and quick, friendly service, Lucky Ramen is...
