The hotel is okay. And not in a bad location. That being said. The AC Marriott was a bit of a letdown for multiple reasons.
The hotel is beautiful at first glance modern and contemporary designed to make you feel relaxed. However, the hotel has two bars neighbouring external to the property that are extremely loud even with the soundproof windows advertised you could hear everything until around 1 am.
The rooms are spacious and the bed extremely comfortable but attention to the cleanliness of the room was poor. Dust behind the curtains was crazy closing these guaranteed an explosion of dust bunny's into the room.
The corner of the shower was black and orange.
Cup stains on the table.
Dirty towels!! wasn't until id got out of the show that I discovered a woman's black hair and other black body hairs had fallen out of my towel and into the shower base. I'm a redhead with currently dyed hair that's grey and short and was travelling on my own, definitely not my own.
The TV is a huge modern TV with the ability to screen mirror your device "apparently" to screen mirror your device you follow 3 simple steps, connect to hotel wifi, enter the weblink on screen, enter code on tv. This would be so simple however the link does not work and just gives you a screen of error messages.
It has digital TV which is great except you can only access channels 1-14 before you get the no signal message. That's fine though the TV has access to YouTube, bbc player, All 4 so your good to use those offering a better choice of programs... That is if the wifi was decent enough to do so. Nothing would play on the catch up apps, YouTube would play stuff but expect buffering for about 2/3 minutes in between videos and constant freezing. Basically if your staying here on business and don't intend to be heading out and spending most time at the hotel then bring your own devices with stuff pre downloaded. The hotel boasts really fast wifi but it was extremely poor, but don't worry you can purchase the premium wifi access for £7.99 per a 24 hour interval. Hmm! I don't think so.
Food.
The restaurant is a tapas restaurant with no other options and no room service menu or any form of room service. Most tapas dishes started at the £9 mark and although I love good tapas I normally wouldn't eat this as my evening meal when travelling for work. Upside plenty of lovely restaurants close by, as well as convenience stores and takeaways.
Breakfast was equally disappointing, a Marriott Breakfast is normally a delight, but warm yoghurts and juice sitting on a top were not something I was going to eat. How many mornings had some of these products been sat out in the warm and then refrigerated till the next day I wonder? Pastries we're long-life pastry in plastic you know the kind of stuff you buy for cheap in Tesco that come in packs of 6 perfect for the kid's lunchbox but taste like plastic. In other words rubbish. Your standard coffee tea options and toaster rotary oven with the option of white or brown bread. Lukewarm "hot" food options were bacon, sausages, scrambled eggs, build mushrooms, and hash browns that looked like tater tots. The over all hot food option was extremely poor quality as said lukewarm and decimated by previous guests.
The hotels restaurant gives a vibe and has a dress code according to online searches. And yet head down at any point to head out for air, food or a smoke. And the local council estate chavs are drunk shouting to there mates in the hotel bar also part of the restaurant and being overly aggressive then pally outside as they gry to bum a cigarette off you while stumbling with their have spilt stella artois glass in hand.
Overall, it's a pretty hotel that smoke screens you into thinking you're staying in this modern chic Spanish inspired dream, look closely and you start to see the cracks, the vomit stained carpets brown handprints down the corridor wallpaper and all the places the hotel staff don't clean due to being hidden by the very dull...
Read moreUNSAFE and DOUBLEBOOKED, please read the full review to see how this was the worst hotel experience I think we’ll ever have.3 of us Booked and prepaid to stay in this hotel 4 months prior for the Saturday of parklife (8th June). Arrived at the hotel at 1:30 pm, check in is at 3pm so I went to park my car. The car park was full so The receptionist told me to park my car outside the entrance which seemed okay, so I parked it there and we went to the festival. We arrived back to the hotel at around 11:30 pm and this is where things started going bad. First thing I noticed upon re-arrival was that my passenger side window had been SMASHED (with some sort of tool/weapon as the metal which guides the window had been bent) and a small bag had been stolen. My friends go inside to check in whilst I park my car elsewhere. They attempted to check in however the receptionist informed us that we had been DOUBLE BOOKED and That THERE WERE NO ROOMS FOR US TO STAY IN. However, this isn’t the end of it. The receptionists told us that they had a taxi on the way to take us to another hotel nearby so we complied. 10 mins later the taxi comes however there seemed to have been a problem with payment as the hotel was paying for the taxi, so after another 10 minutes the receptionist and driver finally stop faffing about and we were on our way to the next hotel. 20 mins later we arrive at the hotel which wasn’t even an AC hotel (it was room zzz if you’d like to see where we got sent). The taxi driver left and we go into reception and my friend explained what had happened and that we’d been sent here, only to be replied with “we haven’t had any phone call or email from the Marriott, this hotel is already full and there are no rooms so I don’t know what they are talking about.” Luckily the staff here were extremely nice and helpful, so the receptionist rang the AC Marriott to see what had happened. It was apparent that THEY HAD SENT US TO THE WRONG HOTEL and given the driver the wrong address... I don’t think we’d ever felt so Mugged off. The AC receptionist then ordered us another taxi to send us to the correct hotel. After waiting for 25-30 mins for the taxi to come, we got suspicious as to whether they ordered the taxi so the receptionist at room zzz rang them again for us. Apparently the taxi “should have” come, evidently not otherwise we would be in it? By this point after hearing this me and my friends decided that we no longer wanted any service off this company so we requested to get sent back to the AC so that We could retrieve my car and drive home. The taxi came about another 10 mins later and we arrive at the hotel roughly 15-20 mins later at the AC (where we were meant to be staying from the start). By this point none of us had any physical and mental energy left in us and now just wanted A bed to sleep on. After a brief conversation with the receptionist we established that we would get a full refund, i then asked how they would compensate us for the inconvenience caused and when the refund will be sorted; she said that we’d have to talk to the manager regarding both of these, however she wasn’t there at the time. She told my friend who booked the hotel that they would ring us Monday at 3pm because we still had another day of parklife to attend. I then Drove us home with the broken window back to Preston.Monday: my friend took a day off work to answer the phone at 3pm: They never rang, we had to ring them. It’s now Friday 14th June and even after multiple phone calls throughout the week (manager seems to be avoiding us as she’s never available to talk to us) we haven’t received any refund or compensation. As you can see we don’t know how it could’ve gone any worse, and the fact that we still haven’t received our refund is genuinely unacceptable and we will be leaving a review everywhere possible. Definitely don’t come here if you value your car, If a 2004 micra can get smashed then something far more more...

Firstly would I stay here again? Absolutely not. We had a number of small issues with our stay and if they had been rectified while we were there I would have had a more neutral review.
Our smart tv dosnt work, it turns on and off so we are unable to use it, equally it’s not ideal turning on at random moments. We notified staff that our tv did not work at 3:45pm shortly after check in along with the issue that the phone in our room had been smashed and had exposed wiring. They told us we’ll send maintenance to fix it, no apology or any sort of “sorry for inconvenience” So we waited for a few hours but no one arrived so we went out. As two new parents on their first time away from baby, the only thing we wanted to do was sit with a cup of tea and watch tv after a late night at the AO.. I went to reception before heading up to the room at 11:45pm and asked if the issues had been fixed and gave the gentleman a run down. He quickly called our phone in the room and said yes but that still works.. not what I had asked, the safety element of the wires was the concern anyway the tv, he said he can see the notes on the system and that maintenance had been told but if I could let him know… so I need to go to my room to then wait for maintenance to arrive at anytime this late at night? I think not. Again no sorry for the inconvenience or any emotion at all. Guess what, the tv didn’t work.
The staff are robotic and lack any kind of common curtsy. I can not believe I contacted reception twice and I was still no closer to getting a working tv or any form of apology. Even a fake sorry at this point would have done!
Now things about the hotel beyond the control of the staff -
The beds! 0 for confront. Hard mattress and the pillows are lifeless. Bring your own!! It has to go down for me as one of the worst beds in a hotel I have ever been too.
Good points because it’s not all bad -
Location the hotel is very central and is in good walking distance from everything and the outside noise is very limited.
The rooms are clean and modern.
Would I stay here again? Absolutely not. The comfort of the bed would have been enough to put me off staying with the chain again but to then have the rude and awful encounters we had due to things in our room not working, I would avoid at all costs.
We’ve stayed at budget hotels in Manchester that had staff that smile and pillow that are plump!
Edit -
We told reception as we left about the issues and we got our first apology… which then opened up a can of worms. We were told twice that maintenance would be up to fix our tv to find out it’s a third party service provider so it was never going to be fixed during our stay.
We were never offered to swap rooms during our stay which would have made the most difference if the tv could not be fixed. Ahmed offered us complimentary breakfast which we appreciated but we just wanted to leave as we got straight up and checked out. He also said if we came back he would look after us which again the thought was there but a little too late for us.
We paid for a room that listed on their website a room that includes a tv with all these smart features so for me we have not received what we...
