Visited this restaurant yesterday with my family in the evening, whilst in Manchester. Not being local to the area, I looked for restaurants within the vicinity. My first few options were fully booked, so when I got to this one- I expected they were going to say the same but we got lucky and they could fit us in.
Driving past the parade of restaurants we noticed how every place was completely full of people, so to my surprise I was quite taken aback when we arrived and it was empty. Saturday night 7.15pm never a good sign right? But the kids wanted sushi, so we decided to stay.
There was no atmosphere. That could have been because no other customers were there. We ordered the sushi then 2 mains. A chicken Ramen and a chicken teriyaki with rice.
The sushi was good. Rice was soft and the rolls we had everyone enjoyed. My husband liked the tofu pockets, that he ordered another portion. The kids enjoyed their salmon. Things looked promising.
Chicken teriyaki came out. It was ok. Rice piled with stir fry essentially with lots of sauce. Presentation wasnât great- but it was rice so the kids had it. The chicken ramen came out & it looked disappointing. I expected the broth to look rich like when Iâve had ramen before but it didnât. My husband took one bite of the Chiron and mentioned it smelt and tasted âfunnyâ I then took a small piece to inspect. Took a bite & instantly removed it out my mouth. I took a sniff and it indeed smelt off. No intent with falling poorly over unassuming chicken, we left the ramen.
Now here is where it went wrong. Upon asking for the bill, the lady server came over & asked if everything had been ok. I mentioned that the ramen wasnât what I was expecting and the chicken smelt off. Immediately she told me no. It was REGULAR chicken. Iâm not quite sure what that meant but I took the piece of chicken from my plate and gave it to her. She took a whiff and told me before cooking its marinated. I know what marinating is, as I do it myself being Asian & this did not smell like soy, sesame or any other type of marinade. I told her the chicken didnât taste ok & the smell was off. To which she kept mentioning, it was regular chicken. I then asked, what do you mean regular chicken what is other chicken then The man who was also in the restaurant proceeded to then say it was HALAL chicken.
This is where poor customer service was executed. Rather than become defensive and stand arguing. We asked where it stated the chicken in the ramen was halal, the lady proceeded to show the front of the menu with the Halal label. My husband explained not being round from the area, this maybe could have been explained to us before ordering. To which she replied ânot my problemâ
Overall very disappointing. Itâs a family run business & we usually love to support these kind of businesses, however the service and attitude towards the highlighted was just not the one.
I explained to my husband that, had she dealt with the situation better- been more understanding. Maybe then the rating wouldâve been better. She could have removed the ramen from the bill, having not touched it after the chicken episode & apologised.
I would have still paid for it, as I would see that the thought for customer service was there.
Very disappointing &...

We went to this place with our baby last evening. We asked for a high chair but the staff said there is none. Then he showed us a table and left. We had to use our pushchair to make a safe sitting position for our baby, but it didnât fit the tight space between the tables. So we had to move one of the tables to make a space. We did it by ourselves because there were no staff around to ask for help, and we were being hasty to move the spare table aside because, well, itâs not always easy to handle an uneasy 14-month oldâŠ. Guess what happened after that? Firstly, when he came back, he put on a sour face without asking nicely to help. Then the other lady came in and they talked to each other angrily by looking at us. We were disturbed, but it didnât finish there. When the lady brought our drinks, she started nagging us angrily that we shouldnât have moved the table! The attitude was terribly rude. It was so shocking and disturbing that we had to leave the restaurant without eating anything!
Tbh we were so enthusiastic about tasting their sushis. However, this all wound up as a disaster by being scolded like a child. Donât want to involve politics here but, somehow, the guy had been really dissatisfied by us from the very moment we step in the restaurant. Still no clue, but no one deserves that.
No matter what, you cannot behave to your customers like that. Mind your...
Read moreI have read the review given by Jacky Chung and would very much disagree with his assessment. First of all, a little digging seems to show THAT person leaves negative reviews for businesses not operated by them (look into their previous reviews and where the menu pics of food came from for his only positive review).
Funnily enough, that person did highlight (on YouTube) that '...whoever said there's nothing to eat in England, you can eat sushi /sashimi anytime / any place!' ... Filmed inside of this establishment, on the eve of their negative review!
Anyway, the food here is honest, fresh and presented nicely. The service is efficient and to the point. The decor is themed according to the available space and is sufficient to simply enhance the experience. The pricing is very reasonable indeed, bordering on cheap for the quality and foods served. The restaurant overall is well considered to serve Chorlton (not upmarket Kensington Town, so expecting the owners to slave 16 hours everyday for a Tonkotsu soup base is a no-no).
Wouldn't hesitate to recommend others to try this place.
To the male owner / server: thank you for taking care of my friend and my partner, who should definitely speak Mandarin Chinese...
