Visited tonight with my wife and what can I say. Shocking service, terrible deliverance of items we ordered and huge lack of clarification with regards to menu item availability. To start we walked in, waited 5 ish minutes to be seated (okay that’s fine) by they weren’t busy at all, a couple of tables at best. Finally sat down after asking if we could be seated in a booth instead of a small mediocre table. Opened menus, then after selecting what we wanted no one came over?? 5-10 mins passed by until I got up myself and went to ask someone if our order is going to be taken, the lady Mariam came over, at first she seemed helpful however she seemed to have next to no understanding of the menu and went over to ask the ‘manager’ Simra if they could put extra caramel sauce onto the Iced Latte?? Is this a joke, anyone knows you can do this. Moving on, we ordered. Simra was making the drinks yet on her phone constantly and talking and flirting around with Idrees who has starring issues (I’ll get onto this later), drinks came however prior to this she made the first one wrong and I noticed this as did my wife, she poured it away then Mariam brought over the first one, I asked where the other was and if there was a mistake made and she said I will go and ask, she returned and say yes there was an ‘error’ with the other drink? An error… then why wasn’t this clarified beforehand- poor handling in my opinion. Iced latte came over after continuous starting from Simra once she’d made the drink acting as if we’d said something wrong when as customers we have every right to point out an issue. Tried the latte, tasted like the coffee had been thrown into a glass with cream lashed on the top- she forgot the extra sauce on top too. Sent the drink back and the manager came over has no courteous manners at all, spoke so the whole restaurant could hear us and made me and my partner to look like idiots - “DO YOU KNOW YOU NEED TO STIR THE COFFEE” she yelled at us. So embarrassing for us and making us look like the awkward ones. I wasn’t being cheap I clarified I’d pay for my drink as I’d actually had it. To put it short, Simra is a poor excuse for a manager - bad tempered and more concerned about her own image then what’s being sent out, manager / owner above should review the connection between Idrees and Simra as he seemed to be very defensive over her, and was glaring at us in an aggressive manner, disgusting behaviour. Mariam seemed to be helpful but ultimately was talking with Simra and Idrees behind the scenes while they all stared at me and my partner- appaling treatment for customers and they do not know how to run a shift. Hire a proper manager and staff and I still wouldn’t return. A few streets over you have MOONLIGHT, a well established place who serve proper desserts and look after you. AVOID AVOID AVOID DOLCI at all costs not worth a penny for anything. Terrible staff and made us feel very unwelcome. Will not be...
Read moreReview on the take away dessert only.
I will give them the benefit of doubt as I tried their take away dessert only. If you decide to go then make sure you sit in and order anything made to order.
The atmosphere: the store looked up scale, clean, and very professional.
Service: was good, staff was friendly, attentive, and helpful which you cannot fault. Their point of service system was confused, no order numbers given, which caused confusion between orders for the servers, to the point they had to ask each waiting customer if what they were holding was for them. No differentiation between in store and takeaway orders. I would say they were overstaffed to a point it costed effeciency.
Food: I got a san Sebastian and a carrot cake. The carrot cake itself was dry and stale as if it was sat out for a couple of days. They got these from the display counter so most likely have been. The only redeeming quality is the flavour of the cream. But did not compensate for the texture which i would have expected to be moist. The san Sebastian was very dark falling on the side of burnt on the base. There's deep caramelisation, and theres burnt. A fine line to tread but overcooked. Flavour was okay, rich but not overpowering.
Overall for 2 desserts that costed £20+ in total. The value for money is poor, where you could find alternatives closeby for a better quality desserts for a fairer price.
Ironically only "haute" in name only. I would not recommend based on the desserts I tried. But may be a different story for the other desserts but...
Read moreThis was one of the most disappointing experiences I have had at any place in such a long time! 4 of us went, it was quiet, only one side had customers. We we enter, server was ok, pointed to the quieter side of the restaurant and said take a seat. We asked to sit in a booth and he said oh no that's for 7 people, I can't let you sit there, fair enough, we sat on a table. Then he took forever to come and take our order, bearing in mind it's pretty quiet, he took so long that we were contemplating leaving, but then my daughter said hello, then he comes. Order takes a while to arrive, arrives in bits. As in tea cup come, with no milk. Had to ask for milk and cutlery. Dessert was ok. The only nice thing appeared to be the waffle. The strawberries and choc cups were disappointing as the strawberries were mostly mushy, the matilda cake was a huge disappointment right from how he took the silver mould thing off and right down to the taste. Then, more customers walk in... in groups of 4... he let's them into the booths! 2 groups of 4 people, into booths meant for 7 people only! Plenty of tables for 4 people available as it was quiet and 1 booth remained free for the whole duration of our visit! Then he had the audacity to put a service charge on our bill! What service?! He met and served us with a straight, 'I can't be bothered face. The slowest service in the whole world, then he thinks we'd pay for the service... oh no! And I'm normally a generous person! I am so annoyed that we...
