Visiting for the first time on a short trip over from Glasgow based on a recommendation, and after a long drive I wasn't disappointed! The venue itself has ample parking in a dedicated car park at the back, with a parking attendant, which was good. Upon entering, the reception interior is impressive and everything appears super sized, very airy and grand. We are guided to scan the QR code nearby and book a table. After less than a couple of minutes waiting in the opulent reception area in very comfortable seats, we are asked to go into the restaurant. For someone entering for the first time, the scale is huge and can be overwhelming (in a good way!). We are guided to a table, hungry and ready to enjoy what is on offer. The place is very busy, and it's a good sign, with a mix of groups, couples and families. The service itself is pleasant when you find someone to ask a question of, but after our first visit we will know how it operates and be fine, so for our first time it wasn't really clear on how you get started (turns out you just get stuck in!) And order drinks (went to the bar to be directed back to the table), after that it was smooth sailing. The food selection itself was vast and served every desire. I started with a nice mixed salad which was fresh and tasty, with a selection of raita and kebab sauce to accompany my starters. Both sauces were delicious. It was very busy, but I didn't spend a lot of time waiting for anything, and the business added to the ambience. The starter selection was simply superb. I could have dined all evening on the selection alone. See my photo of one of my starter plates! Every item had it's own distinct character and I'd say was of restaurant quality, which is something of contention when partaking in a self-serve/buffet experience. From the fish pakoras, the seekh kebab, the Chapli kebab, the veg and aloo pakoras, it was all magnificent. After taking a short break and enjoying some cold soft drinks, I went back for some more fish pakoras because they were so delicious, before exploring the mains on offer. I must add by this point I was feeling quite full, so I ended up sampling some of my established desi favourites: traditional naan bread, chicken karahi, lamb karahi and some saag. The naan was acceptable, but not particularly stand out compared with anything else I tried. I can understand keeping naan bread and other accompaniments like chips etc tasting as it would fresh is challenging, so I'm not scoring anything down on this basis. The curries were delicious, and similar to the starters, of restaurant quality. I noted a lot more main dishes on offer, including steaks made to order, which I was thoroughly impressed by. Will make sure to try some more variety of the mains next time I visit. Despite now being very full and satisfied, I went to sample some dessert. With lots of traditional desi options available as well as classic western options (apple pie, cheese cake etc) I opted for the gulaab jaaman with vanilla ice cream. The dessert stations were extra busy at this point, but I enjoyed ordering and joining in the busyness waiting for my dessert to be put together in the rush of what must have been another 20 people ordering or collecting desserts at the same time. The dessert was delectable and simply fantastic. Soft, flavoursome gulaab jamin coupled with creamy, rich vanilla ice cream - when done this well is untouchable. Now very satisfied, we headed out, adding this to our list of places to definitely visit when we return to Manchester. The prices were reasonable and reflective of the quality of the food and surroundings. Thanks Team Merzee!

This is one of our go to places when we decide to treat our gut with feast😄 There is a wide variety of buffet dishes starting from salad to desserts. Chicken, lamb and fish items are well cooked, juicy and tender which will make you go for a few rounds. Drinks are not included in the buffet option , and have to be ordered separately. Mango lassi is highly recommended to try. Main course with different varieties of curries which tastes heavenly. There are few exclusive items like paya, tawa fish, halim, batura ,steak - I would recommend to try. These items will be given at limited quantity when asked at the buffet counter. Dessert - they have ice cream varieties and other sweet delicacies like phirni, gajar halwa, arabian bread pudding, shahi thukda, lauki halwa, moong dhal halwa , varieties of cheesecake, gulab jamun and list goes .... My personal favorites are Phirni, the rich creamy texture and taste will make you to knock the counter again 😍 Masala fish fry in the starter is a must try which has a authentic taste. Lamb nihari , a must try curry which has slowe cooked lamb with other flavors. It is a mild one that goes good with biryani rice or roti. Chicken karahi - another curry to root for. Vegetarian option are very few and it keeps changing. Among the veg Bindi fry was very good in taste. Pani puri and dahi bale can be counted too. Last but not least , after a big meal , they have sweet Beeda (sweet pan ) to ease your digestion. Not included in the buffet menu , need to pay extra to get it. We thoroughly enjoyed our food every time we visit. Service also very polite and friendly. Ambience is very good and picturesque. Washroom is very clean. Please be an early bird to feast Merzee's buffet as it will easily get crowded and parking will be full.

Family friends took our family out to dinner on a Saturday evening for a treat in Manchester. We were a party of 8. Which included 3 children aged 8,11 and 13. Because we made the mistake of not booking in advance, we arrived and booked a table and were given a cool device with a number on it. We were told that when it buzzed it would mean that our table was ready. The Royal Nawab is an Indian all you can eat restaurant. Each party is given 1and a half hours to eat as much as you like from the vast amount of buffet style hot food that is laid out in front of the restaurant fed by an army of chefs who are constantly cooking and replenishing the tasty food. Your table is assigned a host to supply you with drinks and take away any plates you are done with. The toilets are clean and have an attendant who checks on them literally every 10 minutes on a busy night. And everything is beautifully decorated. Sorry that my phone ran out of power, so I only have photos of the foyer. The names of the dishes are written just above each dish. My one critical observation is that the sign above the food does not tell you how hot and spicy each dish is. I am from Wales, and our Indian restaurants use a simple key to let you know how spicy the food is. They use 1 chilli 🌶 to represent mild and 3 chillies to show that it is very hot. I guess because most of the clientele there were Asian, the names of the dishes would be something that they would have understood as to levels of heat. Half of our party was vegan and were able to find dishes that suited them and so we each had a delightful time.

I've been at Nawab Restaurant both as a wedding guest, and for a meal at the buffet restaurant. The buffet experience was much more positive, with a vast selection of food and relatively good service. A big plus was the baby changing facilities I used on the ground floor were good and both I and my husband could use the room at the same time for changing. The second experience was average at best. We attended a wedding, and while the hall venue was pleasant, the facilities were quite shocking. We were in the 'Persian Suite', the smaller of the 2 banqueting halls. There are two toilets here, but the baby changes facility was only available in the ladies toilets, which meant I had to go in alone. This would have been overlooked if it wasn't for the horrific conditions of the changing table. There is only one pull out table, and it was DIRTY. In current circumstances when we have concerns regarding a viral pandemic, the last thing you want to see is a changing area for a baby/toddler riddled with germs and filth. This has definitely impacted my final rating for this place unfortunately. The set menu was ok, but not anything special. I think the whole charm of Royal Nawab is the massive buffet option. If reduced to just a select few dishes, it's a little underwhelming for me. I will definitely come back to the restaurant in future, I only hope they will have improved on the overall cleanliness of the place, with extra focus on the toilets.

Very very crowded place. Waiting time is almost more than 1 hour. And we are talking about weekdays, not weekends. We were in a group of 22, they don't take booking for same day. So, if you want to go there then book a day in advance. The waiting area is good and very large. Ambience is brilliant, large hall for buffet. Food is of good quality and delicious, and all dishes are tasty, from starters to desserts. What I dislike about this place is no proper space on large tables as we are buffet to guests need to get up again and again to get food from the counter cannot have that long joint tables with sofa where just to take 1 piece of drumstick yoi have to tell 8 peoples to get up so that you can go out. What makes it worse is plate sizes. You have to use side plates for your main course. Also, if you put more than 3 starters, your plates are full, then get up, walk all the way to the counter, and get more starters. Secondly, the counter is so close to each other that it is hard to handle your plates by avoiding it to touch to the person in front of you. Found it expensive for the kids as they don't eat that much. Plus, no free water and drinks are quite expensive. Proper management is needed to handle the crowd coming here. It's not a good experience, but still, like the food will avoid going there until something changes.

Last Sunday was my first time here and I wondered if the reality would match the hype. It did, and then some. Thank god I don't live local otherwise my cholesterol levels would surge like a NASA rocket within a week ! The variety is crazy - I only scratched the surface of the menu. You can specially request items from the chefs but I was satisfied with the ample buffet offering. Don't sidestep the Chinese section. The sweet and sour chicken was amazing. I think the best plan is a bit of everything than overloading too much on starters, mains or desserts. The only downsides were that it appeared there was a language barrier with staff, some of whom English didn't come easy. Their demeanour was friendly and used plates were quickly cleared - and I understand it wasn't easy hearing amidst the din of noise. Better provision could also have been made for tap water. To refill you have to trudge all the way to the bar area and back to your table. Some refill points closer to the tables would've been ideal. We didn't have to wait long for a table but the place was hectic even for a Sunday night. The buffet lines were like a Royal Rumble sometimes. Adult buffet prices is £26.95pp but given the food quality and choice, it was fair.
