I've read a lot of the reviews left for this Yates.
Noticed that there are a LOT of reviews from people who have only ever reviewed ONE place- Yates... Or very few other places. How strange.
Anyway.
I arranged to meet a group of friends here one Saturday evening and due to the time, expected it to be busy. We weren't concerned though because we had that table.
Arrived 10m early, exceptionally polite security on the door. I showed them my booking and was told to report in at the bar.
The bar was 4 deep and it was 10m before I got to the front as there were just 4 people on duty. 4 people on a Saturday night in December.
When I got to the front the lady said she was get the bookings guy to sort it. 15m later he came to see me after another reminder to the lady. We had now been there for 25m.
I was told by the bookings chap I was lucky because I only had 15m grace to claim my table and I was at the wrong end of the bar.
HUH?
I explained I had been waiting for 25m already.
He then left and started to setup a table. It was a total of 36m from walking in to sitting down.
The drinks order was smooth, only one drink left out which arrived after the 3rd reminder. One guy seemed to be doing all group bookings. He was male, blond, 20s, facial hair, slim, and I felt genuinely sorry for him because he was constantly so rushed.
Did a food order. There were a few of us so we wrote it down. Still took 4 attempts to get it right.
After a fair wait (it was busy} the food arrived. Each and every order was between just warm and warmish. One young chap with brown hair and glasses seemed to be truly hating his job and serving with a snarl.
By this point we were ready to eat each other so ate the TINY portions and decided to numb ourselves with alcohol for an hour.
By the way, we each wore all coats, gloves, etc, because they seemed to want to save money on the heating.
Would I go here again?
Sure, If it was a hostage situation where I was forced to go or someone I liked would be hurt. Otherwise I would go literally anywhere else in Manchester than here.
I gave it two stars ONLY because of the poor group booking chap who seemed to be running around constantly. He deserves a well done from his managers. The little snarly guy needs a new career.

Read moreI visited Yates' in Manchester -Printworks and was very disappointed when i had ordered a mixed grill. After 45 minutes waiting for my food and finishing 2 drinks i was very unhappy to find the said mixed grill contained: -A single, burnt out, dry, black, black, sausage, -A dry, unnecessary measly piece of chicken with no flavour( i actually have no words for the chicken -see picture to understand).
On the other hand the mayonnaise was very useful, and the fact that it was free helps ease my conscience over the fact i had to pay for this meal(only because i had to use so much of it to manage to eat what i did).
-The ham and egg were mediocre, egg yolk was hard but i never asked for a dippy egg so i cant complain. Ham was -for lack of a better word- edible. -Adding to this list of nightmares was a piece of steak no larger than a muffin top which i had asked for medium-rare. Originally, it came out rare. But, being the soldier that i am i tried to eat a little before complaining. So i'm trying to hack into it and blood is coming out every time i attempted to cut it. I finally managed to tear a piece off and i knew instantly as i put it into my mouth and spit it back out into a napkin that i had made a bad decision. It tasted like metal and blood. I called the waitress over and shower her, she agreed with me and took it back to the kitchen. She brought it back again and it was the same issue so, disappointed i just left my food, had a few more drinks and went. Never before have i been left so devastated by a mixed grill. Never before have i left steak. What a shame... Do not serve food if your not going to hire proper chefs. The waitress was pleasant...
