The apartment we had was OK but certainly not luxury, clean or as advertised. The minimum I expect at accommodation I’ve paid for is for it be as advertised and clean, even a Premier Inn can manage that for far less than I paid at City Suites. ||We booked City Suites due to a positive experience in 2023. When I booked, I almost booked Roomzz in Victoria but decided on City Suites due to the addtional features the apartment had advertised. We were staying for birthdays and for 4 days so chose City Suites for a bit of luxury and to use the pool. ||The only positives we had was the bed was comfortable, the curtains were black out and we did have AC which was great in the warm weather. We did sleep well. ||We had to move from the first apartment (602) we were allocated because it was not as advertised there were several items missing, there was no desk in the bedroom and no bedside lights at all. The kitchen light flickered. There were 4 hangers for 2 people. The door bolt was broken and there was only one dining chair. We asked for a second dining chair at reception, but it never arrived by the time we wanted to eat, 8pm after waiting 2 hours for the issue to be resolved. ||It then took us 45 mins to move rooms, we received no apology or anything for the inconvenience of having to change rooms late in the evening or the lack of items in the first room. ||The second room (617) was missing a coffee table and that meant there was nowhere to put drinks whilst watching TV in the lounge. We had to place drinks on the floor. The bedroom TV was not a 50" TV either as advertised and there were no premium Sky channels on either the lounge or bedroom TV as advertised online. |We were fortunate we had taken a fire stick because the TV in the lounge flickered when used via aerial. ||The bedroom window was locked shut, yes there is AC but some fresh air in the heatwave would've been welcome. It is unclear why the bedroom window can't be opened when the lounge one can and they only tilt so its not a safety issue? ||Due to changing rooms, a cleaner knocked on the door on the third morning at 0845 to ask if I was checking out? I then checked with reception on my way out in the morning and was assured it was fine, the room was allocated for 4 days and the card was fine on the system. ||When I got back in the evening, the keycard did not work and there was a long queue at reception. The key card had to be updated again i got no apology for having to return again to resolve the issue again, even though I had been told it was sorted in the morning. ||The apartment was not clean, the rug needed vacuuming, the duvet cover was not clean, the oven needed a deep cleaning. I wiped the floor in the kitchen and the cloth was black, obviously not mopped for a while. ||There was also a general lack of maintenance and replenishment of the items in the room, we had limited cooking utensils, no cooking oil, no salt or pepper the dishwasher needed salt & rinse aid. The washing machine had a warning symbol on it. ||My husband was ironing one night and the ironing board collapsed whilst he was using it, so he nearly severely burned himself and was lucky he didn't. ||The pool was not overly warm but the jacuzzi was good, but we only used it once. The lockers around the pool were broken and the shower rail in the shower by the pool was broken too. ||We paid around £160 per night for 4 nights and certainly were not impressed. We had returned to City Suites due to having a wonderful stay in 2023, but it feels like the apartments have deteriorated and customer service was non-existent. ||Our stay was for our birthdays and a few days break in Manchester whilst on courses for work. We paid extra to stay in City Suites for a luxury apartment, we could have stayed elsewhere in Manchester for less. We paid more to have the luxuries advertised online but felt almost £700 for 4 nights was not worth it, we won't be returning . We could've stayed in a nice hotel in the City for less, had a better experience and used the money saved to eat out. ||We have stayed in numerous hotels in the City which are as advertised, clean and have great customer service. ||Since I've returned a £4.80 charge has appeared on my card and I...

We’ve stayed here 3 times. The first two times were great. The third time (which is my current stay, for my birthday) wasn’t so great.

The only request we made on our booking was for a room on one of the top floors because we wanted a nice view for my birthday, but the room was much smaller than our rooms in our last few stays and it had issues.

Our room had broken air con, and it was a really hot day. We had spent 3 hours driving here, and I get headaches during car journey and the heat.

We then had to be moved at 11am at night, an hour before my birthday. We wanted to cook, but held off cooking thinking that we shouldn’t settle because we may be moved if the air con couldn’t be fixed. The receptionist was nice, he gave us a bigger room - one like our prior stays, but it was on the 6th floor instead. The whole floor stunk of cigarette smoke, I just felt nauseous.

In our next room, the air con was clearly still faulty but not broken, but we just needed to relax after the long drive and wanted to welcome my birthday in at 12

The room just had multiple issues, the plates and cutlery were missing and it was just one thing after another. There was no body wash or hand soap. The safe was broken, and on the morning after my birthday, the fire alarm went off for quite a while.

Furthermore when my partner booked the room and he did let the company know that it was my birthday, but it wasn’t even acknowledged. The receptionist that booked us in was quite blasé in general.

We stay at hotels, air B&Bs and apart-hotels quite a lot, and they usually take pride in celebrating with the customer regardless of the occasion - e.g. even for our anniversary we’ve had thoughtful gestures like room upgrades or balloons left on the bed with a sentimental note. They didn’t really care here or take notice, so I wouldn’t recommend staying here for a special occasion.

We booked this with at least a week’s advance, so this shouldn’t have happened. There was enough time to organise a decent room for this stay.

The man on reception on the night prior to my birthday was very friendly and helpful and we were grateful for his help, but there’s only so many times that we can keep going back to someone with all the issues there were.

It is a great location and if they only sorted these issues out, it would be the perfect place to stay. I think customer experience is really important with these types of places and they’ve just fallen short.

We may think twice before coming again, and explore other places...

Pre booked a room including breakfast. £240 gave my arrival times only to be informed after I'd made payment I can't check in until 4pm. OK fine 👌 parking is available in an underground q parking complex next to hotel. Amazing. Phoned on the day only to be informed parking is no longer available to guests as there agreement had been cancelled. Oh OK... would of been nice to of been informed earlier on, seeing as since I made the booking you have sent me a ton of emails regarding your offers... Scottish lady on reception said find another car park. Right.... OK... after an hour and half of avoiding bus lanes and heavy traffic I finally got parked at the AO arena 24 hour parking £20 🙃 sorted.... arrived at citysuits with my bags hoping I can leave until check in.... only to be informed that I can indeed park in the car park and have it validated... 😀 so just an hour and half of stress instead of enjoying our day. We can not check in earlier as the cleaners are still sorting the rooms. Now this is where it really annoys me....

If it where a prem in or a cheap hotel, you wouldnt complain. You get what you pay for.... however when we finally got into the room, I had a good look around only to find the room was in fact dirty, with what looks to be take away french fries in the corner of the room. Broken light switch covers just open to risk of being shocked, The tables where greasey and floor felt sticky. Also the corner couch smelt like sweat. Not what I expected from a so called hi end established hotel

Ordinary I wouldn't be picky however guests can not book in earlier as the cleaners are hard at work.... you can not have it both ways...

The hotel just does not want you using there electric etc and running up costs.

The hall ways smell like wet dogs, and when we checked out for breakfast @9am the cleaners where out already doing room service, so don't understand why check-in is as late as 4pm...

We did go for breakfast, have to say the staff where nice and the food was amazing. Brilliant presentation and generous portions, 8/10

The bed was really comfy how ever it is only a small double, 8/10 shower amazing 9/10

Also you can not use facilities I.e jacuzzi, pool, until the following morning of your arrival, totally disappointed.

Would not recommend this hotel its way over priced, and no where near competitive to 3 or 4 star hotels.

Location is great,...

At first glance the hotel looked amazing but the feeling did fade with closer inspection. The room was nice and big and also very clean. Staff were all amazingly friendly and happy to help. Bed was comfortable and it was great having the amazing food on offer at Embankment Kitchen, located in the hotel on the ground floor. The bad bits did take the edge off the experience though. In the room we found the sofa was really worn out, the cushions were flat and dipped a lot which made it uncomfortable. One of the cushions had a small hole in it, so they must be pretty old. The extractor fan in the bathroom didn’t work at all. The kitchen was great but there weren’t enough utensils. There is an induction hob and one out of two of the pots was not suitable for the hob so didn’t work. There wasn’t a wooden spoon to stir anything being cooked. There were not tea towels to dry up with and no hand towel supplied for the kitchen. We were woken up both nights by extremely loud drunk girls outside, even though the bed was really comfortable we are both exhausted from interrupted sleep. The gym was nice and well equipped for a hotel gym. There were other bits I would have liked to see but not essential. Luckily I had it to myself as I go early morning so there wasn’t any issues getting on the single free weights bench. The water cooler wasn’t plumbed properly and had the water mostly turned off so had almost no flow. The side was removed and exposed the internals and the sockets on the wall were not screwed in and were pulled away where it had been plastered. This meant the wires were exposed and accessible. Both of these things are higher electrical hazards. The pool was a decent size for a swim, if not overly deep at 1.2m. The spa pool was not working until a member of staff turned it on manually behind the scenes, even then only a few of the jets worked. The website and videos of the pool show a steam room but that was nowhere to be found. None of the lockers I checked could actually be locked. There is one shower and changing room which are decent and clean. Overall this place could be exceptional but with the need for maintenance throughout the rooms, pool and gym I feel it is probably overpriced. If those areas are addressed it is well worth the money.
