Right, I get I look about 14 but I have ID for a reason, my ID being my provisional license. I came in last night, the doormen checked my ID and let me in the pub. I goes to the bar, to get ID’D again, which is fine, I expect that. I didn’t even show the bar woman the front of my provisional, as soon as she seen that it was a provisional she told me that it isn’t a form of ID, only a full driving license is, or a passport. I’m almost 20, not everyone has an up to date passport, which is why I use my provisional as ID, because I always have it with me. She didn’t even look at the photo, or the date of birth, and then she started shouting at us telling me how it’s always been like that, I’ve been going out since I was 18, using my provisional and I’ve got into many places, birdcage, gay village, factory etc. She then said she’s going to pull the bouncers, and the bouncer said that he’s going to ask his boss. Right okay, but if you’re a bouncer, or even a bartender don’t you know about which forms of ID are accepted? She was very rude. Anyways, we left and walked over to spoons, but we seen police officers, so I asked if it was still a form of ID and they were like yes, of course, that woman needs to learn the law. I get that I look young, like I really do get that, and I’m not even bothered about being ID’D but to be rejected, and embarrassed when she didn’t even look at it, it’s so disrespectful!!

Basically she’s trying to say that if I don’t pass my driving, I won’t have a full license so I can’t buy alcohol until I pass it, because who really pays for a passport when they hardly go on holiday? Like I only go to buy a passport (if mines ran out) before I go on holidays. Wouldn’t waste my money on a passport when I’m not going on holiday, that’s why I use my provisional as ID. I’ve been to so many nightclubs, nevermind ā€˜pubs’ with my...

I am writing to express my disappointment with the behavior I encountered at this pub. The security guard at the entrance was not only rude but also sarcastic. While there were people inside wearing casual sportswear, he singled out my friend’s North Face pants, dismissively referring to them as "work trousers" and even physically touching them. This was completely inappropriate.

Despite my polite explanation of what the pants actually were, he continued to deny us entry, maintaining a condescending attitude, even though we were both dressed appropriately.

It is concerning to see staff members who seem to take out their personal issues on visitors, especially those who are traveling from abroad. Such behavior is unprofessional and does not reflect well on your establishment.

Having worked in the hospitality industry for many years in various international settings, I can confidently say that this was one of the most unprofessional and disrespectful encounters I have ever witnessed, let alone experienced myself.

This level of service is completely unacceptable, and I hope you take this feedback seriously in order to improve your...

They don't make them like this place anymore! I've been here many times including first thing in the morning and last thing at night and it just never rests. It is literally a conveirbelt of people through the door of all ages but moreso an older clientele. It is essentially really only 2 rooms ( one smaller more private one at the back )and therefore often it is standing room only and becomes full to capacity. A warm friendly party type atmosphere is always on hand and the karaoke is legendary especially on a Sunday afternoon. The staff are terrific and if the landlord is there he will always shake you by the hand and welcome you to his pub. Most importantly the JW Lees ale is bang on and tremendous value. Added bonus if you can get by the open windows on a warm day to...

I was referred to this place by a friend and it was exactly what i love, karaoke with the locals and old school music. The Karaoke host was amazing the crowd though a bit elderly were loving and friendly. Me being a backpacker i had a bag with me which i left next to the bar. The manager in 30 minutes asked me to carry my bag and move around, I couldn't believe what i just heard. I just took my backpack and walked off even though plan was to get drinks all evening. Horrible rude manager! but a great place, ade some good friends who I'm still in touch with.

Simply the best pub in Manchester. Every time we go in the friendly landlord comes over to say hello welcome and shakes our hand. Seat by the window open onto the carnival of characters outside is an event in itself . Highly recommended and if a lover of karaoke then most afternoons you can hear the regulars belting out tunes. When most pubs are empty this one always busy Love it another great afternoon/ evening šŸ’•

This is a proper locals bar set in the trendy Northern Quarter. ( There is a housing estate tucked away behind.) First visited in the 1970's when this area was almost desolate. Very popular Karaoke on this Sunday afternoon. The regulars having a whale of a time. Martin Meerkat concentrated on his beer. A good pint of John Willy Lees bitter.
