Honestly the one of the worst experiences I’ve had in a long time. The waiters who served us gave us looks and a straight faces while talking in another language to eachother the entire time we were there but not with anyone else! Smiling and checking in with EVERY table around us the entire time but we were not asked if we’re enjoying our food or drinks which were quite literally chucked at us.
He passed our drinks so far from reach and didn’t even say ‘Here’s…. and this is …’ no interaction at all no smile no look at our faces the entire dining experience. The most horrible part is when our food was ‘served’ to us, he didn’t look at us on approach, no smile, no ‘hello’. He slammed the food on the bar (far from reach again) while looking away and just mumbled ‘paella’. We were actually quite shocked and jumped from how rude and disrespectful it was from an establishment that were paying good money to eat at btw.
I felt a lot of prejudice if I’m being honest with you, there’s only been a few instances in the city I’ve ever felt like this for a long long time. I cannot say for sure if this was because we were POCs but even if we weren’t this treatment is unacceptable.I would not be assuming this if the service around us was the same. Even, when I had politely asked for the bill, instead of coming over he ignored me and continued having a conversation with staff who was on their lunch break?! They also had the audacity to ask for...
Read moreThe other day we went and checked out the fantastic lunch offerings at evuna in the northern quarter. They specialise in authentic Spanish tapas and cuisine, they also have some fantastic wines and spirits as well. In the lunch deal you can get 3 tapas for £11.99 and add a glass of delicious house red or white for only £3.50. The tapas we ordered; . Meatballs Patatas Bravas Tomato and Garlic on Toast Beef Skewers Chicken Skewers Side Salad . All of these dishes were cooked perfectly and had wonderful flavours, we’d definitely recommend the meatballs as we absolutely loved them and the sauce they came with. . For dessert we tried the Creme Catalonia and Almond Cake, the cake was good and very tasty but the Creme Catalonia stole the show for us, freshly torched brown sugar on top and a creamy custard underneath was the perfect end to our lunch. Overall we would most definitely recommend evuna for service, food and value. We will be back soon to try the dinner time offerings!!

Read moreThis restaurant is always busy and so I’ve intended trying it out for a long time.
Well, I finally made it for dinner and ordered six small plates; cod, steak, tortilla, chicken, mushrooms and croquettes.
The steak was nice although half of it had no seasoning and the other half had a little too much. Unfortunately, everything went downhill from there.
The tortilla was dry and bland.
The cod was thin and over-cooked.
The mushrooms and potatoes were almost tasteless and seemed to have no seasoning at all. It was also extremely hot; as though it had just come out of a microwave.
Finally, the chicken fillet was unbelievably dry and overcooked. The waiter informed me that this dish is cooked in the morning and kept warm all day. I was served at 10pm so that poor bird was almost turning to dust by the time it hit my plate.
On the plus side, the staff were friendly and service was quick. Unfortunately, the kitchen is...
