NORTHERN SOUL MANCHESTER — Restaurant in Manchester

I have heard about this place from various people who recommended it, northern soul started life in a small side hut just down the road from there current location, so they have really come and grown since there humble beginnings. As you walk in you will notice the atmosphere which is great, the music being played in northern soul, it's not overbearing or super loud and if with someone you can talk comfortably, a member of staff will greet you and sit you at a table and go through the menu. The menu consists of well... Grilled cheese sandwiches and chips or Fries for my American Freinds, if you haven't been before I recommend one of 3 classic sandwiches that put this place on the map they consist of 3 cheeses blend, ham and cheese and I can't remember the other sandwich, I went with ham and cheese and there house fries. The sandwiches are large and delicious and come toped with a pickle and slaw (I think ) and the house fries are spicy, all in all delicious!!, I struggled to finish my food just due to size of the sandwich, but the taste is out of this world. I noted on the menu they have a selection of beer that you can buy with your meal as well, my meal came to £16 and that's with a sandwich, a soft drink, house fries, so good value for money. So, if you are in Manchester and looking for a decent meal then go check this place out, oh you need to know it's card only for payment, they refuse cash, which is a minor complaint I have...

I really enjoyed my time at this place!

I met my friends so we could all share a bunch of different grilled cheese sandwiches, and I drove up two and a half hours to get here. It was definitely worth the drive, not only to spend time with my friends and eat delicious grilled cheese sandwiches, But the staff were amazing and the ambiance was super chilled out and really cool as well.

The neighborhood was also really good and there was a parking structure just across the street from this location.

It seemed like they closed a bit early, though it was a Sunday so fair enough... But they didn't kick us out or anything which was cool.

I think if I were to go again I would save space in my stomach so I could also enjoy a shake as they had a cool looking selection of milkshakes. Including one that had a double shot of espresso in it!

I think if I were in the area again I would definitely come back and try something a different item off the menu again, there were so many different options of grilled cheese sandwiches and being for America it is something I really like.

P.s. out of the four types of grilled cheese we had, my favourite was...

We were recommended to go to this restaurant after a free tour. Food was good, so was the place’s vibe. The problem was that when we were given the bill, they said we had to pay an extra 10% for being 6 people. Even though we complained about it, they said it was the restaurant’s policy and that was how things worked there. We checked the menu to see if they wrote about it somewhere to aware the clients, nothing about groups was written there. We said the manager if they could, at least, say it in the menu for next clients to be aware about this mandatory 10% extra. They said the next version of the menu would say so. I doubt it.

Moreover, the manager told us that we should be happy about this 10% cuz in many other places they would charge 12% only for being 4 people. This mandatory extra tip never happened to me in two years living in Manchester.

There is no doubt that waiters work super hard. But this is not the way to make clients pay tips. And a group of 6 people, in my opinion, is better for the restaurant than being just 2.
