Everbright Chinese and Thai Restaurant /Take Away — Restaurant in Metropolitan Borough of Solihull

We've always had great food, great service and fast delivery times from Everbright, but the last few times we've ordered we've had issues with incorrect items and really long delivery times. We always ordered using the Just Eat app and our last 2 orders have had the delivery ETA adjusted so that it was 1.5-2 hours after ordering where previously the food would have been with us in around 20-25 minutes. This wouldn't always be an issue except we had our 6 year old eating with us as a treat for him, and no-one wants to be giving a little one their dinner at 9pm!

Previously I wouldn't have hesitated to give a 5 star rating. This last time I called to ask why it was such a long lead time and was told they were really busy so I asked if I collected instead of having it delivered, could I get my food faster and was told yes.

On arriving at the restaurant, there was one family in there finishing their meal and in the time I was waiting there were no deliveries leaving the kitchen. When my food came out I asked to double check the order as I'd ordeo the same as I always do and the last time our starter was wrong. As it happened the order was wrong again, but in the exact same way as the previous one.

A conversation with the chef highlighted a very confusing line on the receipt which was the source of the mix up. We had selected mixed starter 3 for 2 persons with the option selected for 3 people instead of 2. Chicken satay skewers, tempura prawns and spring roll (delicious and our favourite!) - this came through on the receipt as "3.mixed starter for 2 for 3 persons" and had been read by the chef as "mixed starter 2 for 3 persons". mixed.starter 2 is filo prawns (nowhere near as nice as the tempura ones), squid rings and Thai fish cakes - both of which my wife did not like at all and refused to eat. I explained to the chef who went off to cook the correct items, but I then ended up having to wait for the starter to be cooked again and by the time I got my food home I was at the top end of the extended delivery estimate anyway, but at least with the correct food order!!

Despite enjoying the food, the whole experience from our last few orders means I'm not likely to want to order from here again, which is unfortunate as we've never had issues before. I don't know if something has changed at thee restaurant recently to cause these issues but it needs looking at and...

Ordered on Just Eat, which lists allergens. I cannot have gluten and the prawns starter did not list gluten like other meals. However when it arrived, I noticed the prawns were in batter. I called to ask about this and I got shouted at, the man screamed 'WHY YOU ORDER PRAWNS?' I said because i wanted them and it did not list gluten, does it have gluten in? Also please do not shout at me. He did not respond to my question. He stated he is not exhanging it, if i wanted beef or chicken then I should have ordered it. He then said 'you ordered prawns, so eat it.' I explained that if I did, I would be very poorly and he said 'take it up with just eat.' And hung up. So shocking. It also arrived cold, the beef massaman, was very strange, the meat was spongy and not like beef I have ever had before. My family of 4 ordered a take away from Everbright on Saturday 18 November and the food was nothing short of fantastic. We came in to pick it up and everything was ready to go and the young woman almost forgot to charge us for our food until we reminded her we hadn’t paid online. She was so grateful for our honestly she threw in a bag of shrimp crackers, my MILS favourite! It pays to be honest!! Back to the food… we ordered a few starters and a selection of entrees to share. Standouts: The chicken satay was outstanding as was the Massaman curry. Honestly, everything was delicious and between the 4 of us we managed to eat EVERYTHING - 3 mains and 4 starters plus 2 rice and noodle dishes.
