I have had food from Jamaya several times and have never been disappointed. This is some of the best Caribbean food I have eaten, which is saying a lot being Jamaican myself! The staff are incredibly friendly and act upon requests that you may have if you want to slightly customise your order. They also make you feel very welcome from the beginning. The restaurant is not huge, which sometimes requires you having to wait for a table, however the warm environment and layout, alongside the music creates a perfect vibe. The menu is not incredibly complex which is a huge benefit for those who do not always know what to eat when they go out. After being there several times, I still struggle with what to order as everything that I have tasted so far has been beautifully cooked. Alongside the actual food, their frozen cocktails and other ranges of drinks are very refreshing and compliment the food nicely. Even though Jamaya is around a 40-45 minute drive from me (living in Birmingham), the distance is never an issue as the customer service and food is always worth the drive. The takeaway element is also very beneficial if you want to eat in the comfort of your own home, or you do not finish all of your food whilst eating in... & it tastes just as good! I really hope this restaurant continues to flourish and take off as it would be lovely to have a Jamaya restaurant in a location closer to home - Iโ€™m pretty sure it would then become my local eatery! I am scheduled to go back this weekend and I am again looking forward to dining at Jamaya. This is a great restaurant to go to with friends, a date night or with your families, I guarantee you will...

Located in the bustling heart of Birmingham, Jamaya delivers an authentic and exhilarating taste of Jamaica right to the city centre. This is the place to go when you're craving bold flavours, a lively atmosphere, and a truly satisfying meal.

The Birmingham branch of Jamaya captures the energetic spirit of the Caribbean with its vibrant decor, upbeat music, and a buzzing, casual ambiance. Itโ€™s perfect for a quick lunch, a relaxed dinner, or a fun gathering before a night out in the city.

The undisputed champion here is their legendary jerk chicken. Cooked to perfection, it boasts that irresistible smoky char and a deep, complex flavour that's both spicy and incredibly moreish. Beyond the chicken, the menu is a treasure trove of Jamaican classics. Dive into their hearty rice and peas, sweet and savoury plantain, or explore other fantastic options like their flavourful curries and fresh sides. And of course, no visit is complete without sampling their range of delicious homemade sauces and a refreshing drink to complement the heat!

The staff are always welcoming and efficient, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable dining experience even during busy periods. They contribute significantly to the positive, laid-back vibe that makes Jamaya so appealing.

For a genuine taste of Jamaica and a thoroughly enjoyable casual dining experience in Birmingham, Jamaya is a top contender. It's a fantastic spot to spice up your mealtime and enjoy some seriously good food. Definitely put Jamaya on your list if you're in Birmingham and love...

I was really disappointed in this restaurant as it is nice to see more Caribbean food in demand but, after my experience I don't think I will be returning.

I dined with 2 friends on Saturday 11th June, and the service was very chaotic. We were not designated one waiter/tress so we had several people come up to us and ask for the same orders, which consequently meant that everything took longer to arrive somehow. When we did order food, a friend and I ordered the same meal but with different spicing and yet 2 of the exact same meal arrived - neither of which were either of the spicing we requested. Items were also brought out staggered, which meant 2 of us were eating for a good 5-10 minutes before the other. If this is the way the food is run, sure, but this should have been communicated when our order was taken.

When the bill came, we were almost charged ยฃ5 for soda water (yes, soda water), and when queried the waitress just said "yeah we charge for soda water". We then queried with a senior who rectified this and assured us we did not need to pay. The waitress also just gave us with the card machine and told us to enter our amounts as we were paying separately, and then left to attend to another table before all our payments had been taken.

Overall, service wasn't great and it wasn't even made up for with good food. Would...

Jamaya is a Jamaican restaurant that delivers an exceptional culinary experience through its mouthwatering fried chicken and delectable festival. The crispy exterior of the chicken reveals tender and juicy meat, complemented by a delightful blend of spices that tantalize the taste buds. The festival, golden-brown and fluffy, add a subtle sweetness that pairs perfectly with the savory chicken. The vibrant ambiance, adorned with colorful Caribbean decor and reggae music, transports diners to the heart of the Caribbean. However, the service at Jamaya falls short of expectations. The staff appears overwhelmed and disorganized, resulting in slow and inattentive service. It takes a considerable amount of time for orders to be taken, and even longer for the food to arrive at the table. The lack of attentiveness is evident in empty water glasses and difficulty in getting the attention of servers. Unfortunately, this detracts from the overall dining experience, leaving a disappointing impression. Jamaya offers amazing fried chicken and festival in a vibrant Caribbean setting. While the lackluster service is a drawback, the delicious food and lively ambiance make it worth a visit. With improvements in service, Jamaya has the opportunity to become a standout restaurant that fully captivates its patrons.

We have been going to Jamaya (Touchwood, Solihull) since it opened. I wanted to let the daughter try something 'Caribbean' inspired. I am Trini๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡น born & bred. Obviously, it cannot compare to what your mammy used to cook!. But Jamaya is the next best thing around here๐Ÿ˜‹. We love it. We visit when we can afford to splash out a little. Daughter now prefers Jamaya instead of the other Chicken shop across the way!๐Ÿคฃ. The mocktails are lovely. Have yet to try the cocktails but they sound yum! The food is scrumptious - I always order more than I can eat, cause then I can have a 'takeaway'( eyes always bigger than my belly!๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜‚. Highly recommend the Bob Marley burger- extra hot( but if you're from the Caribbean, you would probably like it hotter- I do!). Festivals we always take home. Fried wings with jerk gravy๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜‹ jerk cheesy fries๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜‹, rice & peas๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜‹, Mac & cheese ๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜‹. We visited on mommy's day- the only negative was- the rum & raisin ice cream portion was very small & just looked like it had been the end of the tub๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ- but small issue. Staff always friendly, always helpful, even though they are busy. Atmosphere lovely. Decor lovely. It was good to see how busy it was on mommy's day. I hope to try the roast dinners- it looks scrummy๐Ÿ˜‹ Overall- 10* ยฃ71.75 for 2 people

I recently visited Jamaya in Solihull for lunch with a client and was genuinely impressed. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel welcome, and the vibrant, funky decor created a great atmosphere. There was plenty of comfortable seating, and the lively vibe set the tone for a fantastic meal. We sampled a wide variety of dishes, starting with 8 crispy chicken tenders and 8 wingsโ€”both perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The jerk charcoal wings brought an extra kick with their smoky heat, and the Bob Marley burger was a standoutโ€”juicy, well-seasoned, and topped with fresh, flavorful ingredients. What really stood out was the consistency across the entire menu. Every dish felt carefully crafted, with bold Jamaican flavors that delivered in every bite. The staff were knowledgeable and genuinely passionate about the food, offering great recommendations and friendly service. Jamaya is a real gem and all Halalโ€”an ideal spot for anyone looking to enjoy authentic Jamaican cuisine in a lively, welcoming setting. Highly recommended.
