I have visited Yakonori in Solihull on multiple occasions and I am usually happy with my order, however yesterday I went for my usual which is noodles in a box with one option and my chosen sauce . Shockingly I left unhappy and empty handed!! The girl who served me was scraping the noodles from the bottom of the metal container they keep the food in. There was only the drabs left, no full long noodles, just chopped up small pieces which she was scraping from the corners of the container. It clearly needed a top up but she thought it was fine to give me them. She then proceeded to put the prawns on top. The box was half full. I told her the portion was very small compared to what I usually get and those noodles were unacceptable. She wasn't rude but she clearly didn't care and was very unhelpful. She just shrugged her shoulders and said that is the portion size. I wasnt impressed. I said I've never had that little amount before. She said they changed the portion size last week and made them smaller. I said so they made them smaller for the same price and haven't put up any signs advising customers about the change. She said If I wasn't happy I would need to speak to a manager. So I pointed towards another worker and asked if she was a manager she said no there wasn't a manager on site and told me I would need to speak to head office! I didn't believe a word she was saying and I had no intentions of paying for that food with left over bitty noodles. Hence I left empty handed. I felt insulted and the service was appalling. I have given a good rating as I don't think it fair that one incompetent worker ruins it for all. However I have been put off...
Read moreWas hungry after a long day and decided to eat here upon discovering it was halal. Every aspect of my experience was absolutely top tier; from the service to the food and interior design, this restaurant deserves all the praise. I was served by Mo, who did an incredible job at catering and serving the food (which was impeccable by the way). He made conversation and was extremely friendly yet professional, even going so far as to give advice on what food to order whilst I was struggling to pick from the wide array of options. He was definitely one of the many highlights of my experience and the reason why I rate the service so highly. The pacing of the meal was flawless, allowing us to savour each dish and engage in delightful conversation without feeling rushed, whilst simultaneously disallowing us from waiting for the food. I ended up getting a seafood bento box, as well as sharing some firecracker chicken noodles with my family. The food was cooked to perfection and the chicken in particular was immaculate. The bento box came with an extensive range of different foods - from sushi and sticky rice to shrimp and fried calamari. Every dish was mouth-watering and nothing short of exceptional. As for the atmosphere, it couldn’t have felt more homely. It’s the perfect balance of modern elegance and a cozy decor; the soft, ambient lighting creates a warm, inviting atmosphere and the tasteful paintings reflect an incredible commitment to aesthetics. 10/10 in every aspect. Definitely recommended if you’re in the area,...
Read moreI took my sister to the sushi masterclass as it was one of her presents for her 18th birthday. We arrived at 6.25 as the class was going to begin at 6.30. Initially we were offered a drink quite promptly, however our starters didn’t come out till 7.20 (no sushi teaching even starting at this point). They were setting up the session as we were sat down waiting, which looked rather unprofessional. The guy leading our class was lovely and was fun learning new sushi skills. The service however was pretty poor. Unfortunately the girl sat next to me ordered a beer, the waiter spilled the beer all over the table and into the box of sushi she had made, they offered her a dry box but didn’t replace the sushi. Another member of the table complained half way through the experience, and staff only offered her a drink which didn’t rectify the delays and service issues for the rest of the table. Towards the end of the meal, it felt like they were trying to make it up to us by offering us a complimentary drink, however the drink of sake or bubble tea at the end was included in the price of the experience. As we were leaving i very politely mentioned that i was quite dissatisfied with the evening, we waited a long time, and the service was sub par however this was met by no apology, the staff defended a 50 minute and didn’t think it was an issue as we had our drinks.
The whole experience has put off myself and my sister from returning from Yakinori, shame as we were both looking forward to...
