When I travel, the first thing that I would do is try the local cuisine. This time, I don’t have to go to Greece to sample the dishes. I have been waiting for the Real Greek to open and today, it has. Normally, it would be a trial and error experience that I would receive, however, with the Real Greek, it is totally different.
The decor is very simple and yet inviting. It’s very spacious and guess what, they have an open kitchen! First thing that I have observed is how welcoming the staff are. Everyone is all smiles. Mind you, I did observe each and everyone whilst I was there and for the entire duration, none of them has showed tiredness or unwillingness to assist their customers.
The food is very well presented and in the beginning, I thought it would be just so-so, however, to my surprise, everything was bursting with flavours. I enjoyed everything and I could not fault it at all. And of course, after my meal, I would have my Cappuccino. To be honest, they do make a mean one. It was the cherry on top of a cake! It was that good. Perhaps it is because they do use a high quality Italian single origin. They do serve a Greek coffee but I could not have it as it may be too strong for me and it wouldn’t be good for my heart.
From start to finish, the customer service was impeccable which is so important in a food industry. Staff would check if everything is fine and/or if there is anything that they could do for me. The food was absolutely superb as I could taste all the elements in each dish and I know that everything was fresh.
I tried to find a fault but there really is none. My whole experience at the Real Greek was a top-notch one and I hardly have this kind of sense on an opening day at the other restaurants that I have visited.
The Real Greek is a restaurant that is a must-try in Solihull as I could say, it is a new gem. I will highly recommend this to you and I will definitely go back to try more of their dishes.
Thank you so much for the very pleasant welcome and for taking good care of each of the customers who dined-in today. I saw how the others went out and the look on their eyes say it all - coming back for more look! Thank you, too, for the excellent service and keep up the good work.
Looking forward to my next visit at the Real Greek!...
Read moreWorst Greek I've ever had. REAL Greek possibly doesn't stand up to Trade Descriptions. Very overpriced and without the courtesy of quality food. Chicken and pork slouvaki wraps were dry, flavourless, and the meat quality was appalling. I wouldn't give it to my cat. Meat was mostly gristle and inedible. Isn't a slouvaki meant to be juicy and salty and full of flavour and satisfying? There were zero redeeming features. Also had hulloumi fries which consisted of 6-7 crickle cut small potato chip sized pieces. I think they had been heated up- I doubt they were made fresh in a fryer. They had honey on them and cost £7 (plus the 10% semi mandatory service charge applied) they were terrible. They didn't even taste salty. We also had a small (I stress small) Greek salad. If 2 olives and a piece of feta with dried out slices of pepper and halved cherry tomatoes constitutes a Greek salad then Greeks of the world I explore you 'rescue your pride and heritage before it is trashed by The Not at all Real Greek disaster. Wine was in wine glasses from a social club but still £7 a glass - husband says this is about me not the restaurant but I disagree. £45 I'll never see again.
On the plus side on the way home we stopped at @attikagyros in acocks green. Halloumi fries and a chicken slouvaki, made fresh, full of flavour, £10. Also do yourselves a favour solihull try @allgreekstreetfood in Birmingham City centre which is absolutely fabulous and cheaper than; let's never mention them again.
Remember all who read this food should be a joy...
Read moreNot the best experience for our first time here. Going to the RealGreek was the friends choice, not ours. It took about 20 minutes for our drinks to arrive, which was water and a sprite. then an hour for dinner to arrive. There were 4 of us and we have separate bills. Both couples ordered the £47 Tonia Buxton. For £47, I expect HOT food and larger portions. We ended up with 4 lamb meatballs, 4 prawns, 2 pieces of chicken skewers with one tomatoes and a single slice of onion, a small portion of rice and paid nearly 5 quid for a tiny bowl of chips! We ordered 4 teeny tiny bottles of Sprite at £3.45 EACH. If you order dessert, expect to wait 20 minutes for it if its Greek Filo Custard Pie. Tastes great and it was the only thing HOT the whole night. Molten Lava hot. It burnt my tongue and lips. To say services was slow would be kind. We were there 3 hours. We left at 9. By 11pm, I was hungry. It was so noisy we couldn't even talk to each other. 15 women at the table behind us were let out on a Hall Pass and cackled the whole time, like they had never been out of the house before. Also, at the very bottom of the menu, you will miss the note saying a 10% optional service charge will be added to your bill regardless of the size of your party. As a couple of 2 ,we paid £99.. We didn't see the note and were NOT informed it was OPTIONAL. They got a £10 tip. The server worked hard considering she was 1 of 3 there on a Saturday night and the placed was standing room only. Thanks, but no thanks, we...
