Attended as part of a group of 15 people for a pre-booked family birthday meal. The menu consisted of fairly run of the mill pub fare, we had a sharing platter to start which consisted of some fried items, all of which were over done, for main I had a chicken tikka masala, which came with boiled rice and a tortilla. The actual curry was okay, but the blandness of the rice and tortilla didn't add much to it. Service was average in general, but drinks service was quite slow. Overall I would have given this a 3* rating at best, had it not been for an embarrassing incident when I got there. On arriving I was not allowed in by the bouncers, this was due to a strict dress code which starts at 7pm which does not allow shorts and trainers. This dress code was not published anywhere and no one was informed of it when booking the meal. After speaking to the manager and being let in, I was informed by the bouncers that I would still not be able to go in as I was carrying a birthday present which was a bottle of spirits (and clearly not intended for consumption on the premises). After explicitly agreeing that if the birthday present was opened and consumed on premises, we would have to leave, I was finally allowed in. Inside there were a large number of people in shorts and trainers (as it was 23° outside), including a few from my group who had apparently arrived minutes before the bouncers had started at 7pm. I have never had this issue before in any other venue and this incident completely marred my experience. I can only assume that they were so strict because there is a lot of trouble at the venue and because of that I will not be going back.

I wasn't overall impressed with my visit here. It is rundown and in need of a deep clean and refurbishment. The tables are bumpy? And the chairs are ripped and black from whatever has been spilt over them. I went with a large party of 16 people and pre booked ages ago. I had to give a £40 deposit which was then held behind the bar to come off the bill. Having the money refunded back wasn't an option. We were placed on a set of tables that had just been thrown together, there were 4 square tables and 3 round tables that were just put side by side, the whole party couldn't even talk because it curved around in a j shape. I noticed there were 2 other large parties in the restaurant and they were on long tables in booths, there were plenty of other places much nicer where the tables could have been put together properly. It was embarrassing as the organiser that other parties had a proper set up and we didn't. Just disregarded in a corner. The food was okay and the cocktails are a good deal when 2 for 1. Staff seemed pleasant enough although when 1 of our party asked if her food was coming (she ordered first and was last to get it) she just got told 'yeah should be' wasn't even checked on. Most people had finished their food before she got hers. I wouldn't suggest a large group going here or even a party...be better to go to TGI Fridays across the way!

Shocking service. Staff have very bad attitude. Asked a very simple question in a polite manner due to ordering from the app but got a very abrupt answer. From the app we couldn’t find how to adjust drink as we didn’t want ice. Told the member of staff who brought our drinks over and she huffed, rolled her eyes and walked away with our drinks. the team leader, Lauren touched her hair and then handled our food. When confronted and we asked to speak to her manager, she walked off and grunted really loud. We then had our platter apparently recooked but to us, it looked refried and reheated. The manager said she confirm with the chef that everything was cooked from scratch but it wasn’t as seen in the images. (Onion rings in the bowl were cooked from scratch) garlic bread was reheated, croquettes were refried etc. This is the 3rd time I have had an issue with this place so will never ever take my family back there.

We visited recently for breakfast & was so disappointed with the changes made, I would no longer recommend the breakfast here to friends and family as I once did.. S&L have increased the price significantly but sadly also took items away which is clearly a cost cutting exercise - the children's breakfast does not include a drink (I am pretty sure it once did) the adults breakfast no longer includes a hot drink, the items on the breakfast have reduced (you can purchase these at an additional cost) & toast no longer included (you cant even add toast which is pretty bizarre there are 2 other bread type options both don't really compliment/go with a breakfast The breakfast we was served the weekend was pretty sad & lonely looking on the plate I was quite taken back Another point to make I don't really think the table reservation system works here, when you go in pretty much every table states reserved I personally did book but you don't get to choose your table even when the venue is empty you get seated where S&L say.. you feel you cant sit where you want because every single table is block booked it does state you can keep the table warm but I don't think this is encouraged is the vibe I get.. so leaves people such as families in an awkward position as children cant sit on the bar stool type tables .. just feel the layout could do with some work I think S&L is mainly focused towards drinking/brunching so people that just want a family breakfast/lunch without drinking alcohol don't seem to get very...

We went here this evening for a meal after the cinema. I have been here a few times for cocktails, which have always been great. However this evening was a different experience.. I asked the staff if the quorn buttermilk burger was the fake chicken one the girl asked what i think was the manager to which his reply was dont know and went off (great customer service) ordered fish and chips, kids burgers and chips, a quorn buttermilk burger and a vegan soya burger.. 2 buttermilk burgers arrived, we asked for it to be changed to the soya vegan burger.. the man took it over to the cook and called the lady over who took our order at the bar, looking over at us she brought the same burgers back in which she said you ordered 2 buttermilk burgers, which we didn't. She said it's still vegan so we accepted in after her saying thats what the soya burger is (when it's obviously advertised as a different burger on the menu to the buttermilk) after the looks we just wanted to eat and get out of there! My daughters burger had no cheese so that got taken back aswell.. even when it come back the bun was so hard she couldnt eat it. She got a desert with her meal but after such a bad experience we just left without it. Never again will we go here. A bad experience and they were not interested in dealing with dietary requirements even though they have a separate menu for veggie/vegans....
