My daughter, friend, and I went to the red lion last night. I have to be honest I wasn't expecting much as I know how much the hospitality industry has suffered throughout covid. How wrong could I be!. From the moment we walked in, it was warm, friendly, and very welcoming. Yes, it's a little bit outdated, it's what I would call a proper pub, not one of these large chain soulless, lifeless places. It has character and characters, a very wide age range of customers, and all of which were treated equally the same. They had an impromptu karaoke , which was fantastic, so much so that my daughter got up to sing! It's warm, friendly, attentive staff and manageress made it the best night we've had since covid, and we'll be returning for the remaining time it's open. Read moreNew owners yet again, it had improved with the previous owner ( the Scottish lad) but went in last week. One fella in the building on a busy day. Not even any glass collectors. No glasses for my pint so had to wait for them to be washed. Not the guy,s fault he was very apologetic but the new manager whom we have never met is obviously not bothered about the place. Just wish this place which we have been going to over 30 years would get a manager who cares, is available and takes care of his staff. Read moreCame in to watch the Kidderminster v West Ham game. They turned it off with 10 mins to go to stick the Ireland v wales rugby game on. They have 2 tv feeds, but turned both to the rugby, leaving me with not seeing the end of a very good game of football.
