Totally appalling. Partner first fathers day ruined thanks to this place. Firstly was told on the phone to book online for table for fathers day. So we did. On arrival no record of booking, showed text, no table, waited on table, finally got table. Then was told have to go to bar to order. Get to bar, we are really busy so if you don't have a table could be long wait. We have got a table. You sure. Yes. Finally give order. Goes to drinks then gives me a nearly £50 bill for 2 carries and pop which I nearly went ahead and got wrapped off if it wasn't for my partner. Price finally corrected. 15 min que for food. Get to front hand tickets the server begins to plate on normal plate I said excuse me we ordered large. No sorry you haven't and too late to change it. Yes I have and I'm going to the bar. Get to the bar and a wait to get the proof to get correct size meal. Blames the printer for printing ticket wrong. Gave receipt Back up at the cue for another 10 minutes before being served. Rude staff, miserable experience. Total nightmare full of un necessary waits when I'm clearly someone who had visible disabilities I had un necessary cues due to there error. Then the first person to ask how we found today we told and he said we shouldn't of had to wait a second time and should of being bought to the front, lot of good that is now. Even my partner pudding had to be replaced before reaching the table as half ended up on server and floor. Total miserable experience which I won't ever give them another chance. Disorganised, rude staff from start to finish The food was disappointing with shrivelled up sausages that had being left all day, dry Yorkshire pudding, even with king size it was like scraps of meat, no mint sauce, gravy lumpy thick, roast potatoes replaced by just taking lid off and shoving at back. Pudding I thought I was ordering apple crumble but no sponge with toffee apple crumble topping. Most bland except toffee apple sauce that was so bitter....
Read moreAugust 2015 Staff were not very forthcoming at food/self service side, but we did get served drinks and food in a timely fashion. We had burnt roasters with slimy and lumpy mashed potatoes the other vegetables were not up to scratch namely the carrots and cauliflower but my battered fish and Yorkshire pudding was nice, my friend could just about get her stuffing out of the pot as it was burnt and dried out she commented "her chicken was as dry as the atmosphere with the exception that the atmosphere in here could be cut with a knife unlike her chicken and stuffing". It seemed an off day was happening in the kitchen today on my birthday. I have been here 3 times before and the food was okay but this time the food seemed to reflect the personality of the kitchen staff, burnt out and overcooked. The kitchen staffs moral seemed rather low, I feel that the staff could do with a pick me up and engaging with customers more when collecting plates asking all customers "did you enjoy your meal" rather than just "can I get you anything else" as we were asked when plates were collected from us. However after all said and done I do hope you enjoy your meal if you go to the Plume Of Feathers in Shirley I do hope you have one of my first 3 meals and not the latest one I have recently had....
Read moreA relatively average experience unfortunately.
We have been to several Stonehouse restaurants in the region and our experience on Monday afternoon was a little below our expected standards of the brand.
As per other reviews i was rather confused by the waiter service, after the Chef plated up the food we had it delivered to our table by the server.
In general the restaurant appeared to have sensible Covid-19 provisons in place. Including the Track and Trace barcodes, limits on table service, removing Server Spoon access to customers at the carvery counter, along with closed sinks and Urinals in the Gents Toilets etc. All off which are helping to reduce the spread of coronavirus. Then it appears all efforts in those measures are being hampered by having waiters bring your food to your table with you. In turn increasing contact both physically (by Contact of plates) and Personnally (Waiting Staff spending more unnecessary time at the tableside).
Anyway to end on a positive note. It is clear the staff are doing there best with the resources they have, given the circumstances we find ourselves in. Staff were Polite and Helpful, even bringing forward our booking slot at short notice. The food was tasty and portion sizes were plentiful.
Oh and next time we visit, can we have some...
