Me, my wife and 3 year old daughter went here for breakfast. Ordered two big breakfasts for ourselves, and a slice of cake for my daughter, as well as 3 drinks. Cake came out immediately as it's already made and that tasted okay. However when it comes to the breakfasts, we sat and waited for a long time for our food, I also noticed next to me were two gentlemen who were also waiting a long time for their food and all they had ordered was scrambled eggs with beans and toast, and the other guy ordered eggs benedict. My wife asked a member of staff how long our food was going to be after waiting for a while and so they checked and came back to us saying they're doing it now. It came out around 5 - 10 mins later and we were VERY disappointed with what was served to us. The sausages tasted like the cheapest sausages you buy at the supermarket and they weren't cooked evenly. My two weren't good but appeared to have been cooked slightly better than my wife's because it seems as though they had put hers in the pan and not bothered to turn them, they were completely pale apart from one side of it! The fried eggs were overcooked, the yolk had hardened and so wasn't very runny at all. Also, the toast did not come out at the same time as the breakfasts and the tomatoes were hard and very dry in the middle so I had to cut that out. Bacon was not flavoursome, again I think it was down to being cheap quality meat. A staff member offered to get us more drinks while we were waiting for the food but we declined. When we were nearly finished eating (we both left a fair amount of food on our plates as it just wasn't enjoyable) another member of staff said they would come and speak to us regarding compensation, so I waited to see if anyone was coming over but nobody did so we just left.
I would not recommend this place for...
Read moreBefore I write I feel it's important for honest reviews of eating and drinking establishments as it has helped me to decide where to eat and drink in the past.
We arrived at about 1.45pm. The table sat at first was quite sticky so we moved to one that was a bit less sticky. I waited at the Counter to have my order taken but, the retail assistant carried on changing the till roll. I was not acknowledged by the assistant until she had finished what she was doing - which was about a minute. I ordered two cups of herbal tea's. When the assistant brought our tall glasses we pointed out that they were both not very clean. She did not apologise. She brought back cups but, handled them by the rim and not by the handles. The tables near us had not been cleared and we then noticed that it was all a bit grubby.
I did not complain as they were rushing to close at 3pm
I think a greeting would have been nice from the assistant to begin with and training given on how to handle cutlery and crockery in hospitality establishments.
I hope my comments on our visit to Two Mugs will be acted upon. We have been there on two occasions before and it...
Read moreWhat a lovely little place! Came here to catch up with an old friend and we were very impressed by the relaxed atmosphere and friendly service we received from the girls. The food was absolutely delicious. Very good quality and freshly prepared by their own chef who was also very welcoming. There is plenty of great food and hot and cold drinks to choose from. My Americano was served with a little jug of steamed milk and my friends herbal tea was served in a lovely glass infuser teapot. All dinnerware was beautiful and great quality, unlike your average cafe. I really love that as well as using environmentally friendly take-out packaging, rather than plastic, they have also taken part in the 'toilet twinning' initiative which means clean water and a working toilet has been provided to a family in a poverty stricken country, which is a lovely thing to do. A lot of thought and care has been put into everything they have done, from the decor to the plates to the open plan kitchen. It really is lovely. I wish them well in their new business and I will definitely be a...
