According to the website breakfast is ‘cooked to order between 9 and 11’. We rushed across town on my birthday to get breakfast at the place we’ve been keen to visit for ages, only to find that at 10:55 they were no longer serving due to not having their usual chef in. That’s fine - disappointing, but understandable! The problem was the appallingly rude staff member who was not serving us, but interrupted her coworker to shout across the bar that we were too late, couldn’t order, and offered no apology or kindness. Fully appreciate the issue with the chef, and that we were close to the deadline, but the way we were spoken to was just so unnecessary, and really put a dampener on what should have been a lovely morning. We both had the Croque Monsieur sandwich.. which was delicious and better than we've had a Cafe Rouge and a couple of other places. lovely thick slices of ham and great flavour.. shame the sourdough bread had sold out, but the granary did a great job standing in!
