Gurkha Spice — Restaurant in Mid Sussex

I personally applaud new businesses, so was pleased to put Gurkha Spice to the test

I ordered a chicken rogan, pilau rice, poppadum, onion salad and onion bhaji.

Firstly, pleasing to note, I received two poppadoms- although pretty standard for most restaurants. The onion salad was plentiful, although very standard again. The poppadoms were again, pretty standard.

The mint sauce was green.Very green. Missing the obvious sugar that other restaurants add. Sadly very noticeable as well. Didn't taste "quite right".

The pliau rice was "as standard" but the chicken rogan was, put simply, quite awful. Hardly any sauce or flavour at all. Such a shame as I always have high hopes for any new business.

Would I order again? Probably sadly not.

Let's hope that Ghuka Spice take on board these very honest and genuine comments and improve to show they can be a top dog in Burgess Hill within the curry restaurant and takeaway...

We have just had a family meal (two adults, two children under 10) and had a fantastic experience! It was our first visit and can confidently say the food was delicious. The portion sizes also generous. We tried a mixture of dishes Nepalese and Indian all was really tasty, we really were impressed. The kids gave their meals 10/10, the chicken pakora starter was child friendly and a first time try for them and they loved it. We were very well looked after by the staff whilst inside, they paid special attention to the children, which went a long way in our book. They gave our children complimentary desert. We've had deliveries/takeaway from Gurkha Spice a few time since moving into Burgess Hill. Deliveries are timely, the food always arrives hot, and everything is clearly labelled. We really enjoy the Nepalese specials, it's great to have some new options, but the "traditional" dishes are all there and tasty too! Portion sizes are great (especially the Naan) and won't leave you hungry. They have their own App which is really easy to use, and saves you from putting money in the pocket of the usual delivery giants.
