Oh how they've changed, I left my first review to show we did like this restaurant, but read right to the end. Really nice, freshly made food. Covid safe and friendly service, oh and the food has been very good each time. Recommended. update this is the 3nd time of ordering smoque online through deliveroo. The first time the owner arrived saying don't order from us via deliveroo as they exploit the restaurants. Needs must when we ordered from Deliveroo a 2nd time, they took nearly 3hours to arrive, no order tracking, no help on phone other than the driver just left. We live very close to the shop and they could have delivered it on foot quicker and fresher/warmer. My son went to bed before the food arrived just before 10pm. They did not update the app so couldn't complain to deliveroo until the next day and was told the refund is time barred. Then this evening we ordered again at 1820hrs and were told 1930 delivery time, not great but we're hungry and so took it on the chin. The food arrived over an hour late and stone cold. Whilst waiting for it we called the restaurant 3times and were told its out for delivery and they had no way to contact the driver. Seeing a repeat of last time we requested a cancellation and refund to get food from elsewhere. They refused. We offered for them to collect the uneaten, congealed burgers and chips and they refused saying contact Deliveroo. Surprise surprise the app has not been updated and so refund is not an option. To start with the burgers here are amazing!

I feel the google stars do not marry up to the service and feel it should show lower stars as is reflected fairly on trip advisor!

Here’s the issue - when I visit my sister in burgess hill I want to eat here, 4 adults and 1 child we all get a regular meal of the burgers we want (total just shy £50). First time we ordered In July 2020 for delivery we got everything except one burger so the owner delivered it 5 minutes later it was there. Good service It was delivered had an apology we were happy.

Last night we ordered again this time we picked up as it was busy so to get our food quicker. Told 20 mins 25-30 mins later stood out in the street the food was given to us we drove home 1 burger, 1 chips and onion ring were missing! We call up again and they say oh yes I see it is here do you want it delivered? We say yes then they like 20 mins then we say we will pick it up them only live a couple away and then they like be 10 mins - but you said it was there just been missed! Then the staff member got rude on the phone to us about it not even any apology or forward credit for this happening twice! He ranted to us that it is busy tonight so nothing he could do - I mean obviously you could get our order right as an option but he seemed to think it was our fault!

For half the price go to McDonalds they can get your order right, unfortunately Smoque is nicer but in future I will choose somewhere else so I get to eat with my hosts at...

Yeh, great, if you like being told "be about ten mins" for a collection, then you turn up fifteen mins later and stand about for another fifteen while they get your order together, then gettin it home, realising they fcucked it up, driving back, getting it fixed but being told it was your fault because you modded an order.

You accepted the modified order AND the payment, get your sh1t together!

There's 8 of them in there, the youngsters, bless em, grafting, cooking and washing up, whilst the two older fellas stand about doing FA other than pretending to look busy whilst eating their own brownies off the counter.

ONE other customer came in behind me whilst I was there, not one other was about when I went back to tell them to sort their sh1t out and not one single order seen being sent out or collected for delivery; this on a friday night; what the hell are they cooking in there and who the hell is it for??!

Not for me ever again, that's for sure.
