This place is highly hyped up on Instagram. My friends and I went here for a birthday meal as we liked what we saw on their advance however we left this place a very disappointed. Firstly, the host was very cold and very dismissive. We were not offered any drinks after having sat at the table for nearly 30 minutes. I had to go up and ask the host how we go about ordering drinks and she said she would come to us. She eventually came to us and took our orders. When asked about some items on the menu, she told us She did not know I showed no interest in what was being asked. When we asked her if we could speak to the chef as they would be able to tell us more about the food she told us that the chef was not on site and gone home for the day. Once our orders were placed, we noticed various deliveries coming in from Sainsbury’s and the food warehouse. After a long wait our food came out. Some of the starters on the menu were prawns and fries which were clearly from the food warehouse. The salad consisted of lettuce and mayo and the lettuce was frozen Which I told the lady and she took this off my plate. The rest of the food was edible however you could tell it had been reheated. Upon completion of our food, we got our bill and to my absolute discussed we were charged for tapwater that we had asked for. When I query this with the host, she told me that is a standard and that’s what they do. Also, they charge you an excessive surcharge which they tell you is mandatory and has to be paid. With the service we received I realise that they need to make their money somehow, so by charging their charges they get some extra. I would not recommend this place if you appreciate good food and good service !!

I have attached some information for you with regards to free tapwater. As you will see from the attached you cannot legally charge a customer for tapwater and this is something I did query with you, but you were adamant you had to charge it. Also The attached dust states charge can be mandatory however if the food is bad, we have the right to refuse to pay the surcharge. When we refuse this you told us we had no choice but to pay it. You may wish to revise your restaurant rules as you are clearly charging...

Where do i begin…..We arrived, the lady at the front did not acknowledge us at all, she continued to work on whatever she was doin on the tablet. We had booked a table for 10 people…after we spoke to her she then checked the table reservation and showed us were to sit.Bearing in mind it was our first time here, we didnt know the ordering process etc. She left us there for about 15mins with no further communication….We had to ask her how things work….After ordering our drinks we wanted help with the food menu, at this point the lady looked annoyed as we were asking her questions about food….she kept saying its described in the menu….but we are not from Nigeria and we didnt know what some of the food was. We asked if the chef was available to explain and we were told the chef has left for the day…..so who was cooking our food 😬. Eventually she decided to help us explain some of the foods we were not familiar with. We noticed that food was being delivered into the restaurant😳 ? When the food finally arrived the lettuce was frozen, some of the meat dishes didnt have the meat , she did apologise and gave us alternative for the frozen salad (it had ice blocks in the lettuce). The talapia looked freshly cooked…maybe onsite or maybe it was delivered, however after being told the chef has left for the day, we werent too sure. They didnt have some of the drinks or food on the menu. There is a service charge that is forced on you even though you are not happy with the service..😵 When we asked about the service charge she told us its compulsory and no negotiations about it. This ruined our night, we were excited about trying out Nigerian cuisine and we had driven all the way from Northampton but the service we received ruined our experience. The restaurant was not busy but the lady seemed engrossed in her tablet and wasn’t acknowledging us…Simple Customer service requirements. Unfortunately because of this we will not be...

⭐ 0 Stars — A Shocking Experience at +234 Nigerian Restaurant

Visited on a Sunday when only buffet was available — which we didn’t initially mind, until we saw (and tasted) what was on offer. The hygiene of the place immediately raised red flags. Food looked poorly presented, and the taste confirmed our doubts: bland, overcooked, completely unseasoned — not even remotely a representation of authentic Nigerian cuisine, which I’ve had many times before and thoroughly enjoyed elsewhere.

Service? Non-existent. We weren’t greeted, offered a table, or even acknowledged. One of us had to go to the counter to ask if we could eat in. The staff seemed uninterested and lacked even basic manners or politeness.

The drinks were just as bad. We ordered three cocktails and two double JD & cokes — the cocktails were so weak it was as if they forgot the alcohol altogether.

Then came the bill — six people, minimal drinks, and a buffet at £30 per person. Nearly £300 for one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. For that price, we could’ve eaten in a top restaurant in central MK with great food, professional service, and still had change to spare.

To top it all off, a 12% service charge was automatically added — for a buffet, with no table service and no hospitality. When we challenged this and asked to speak with the manager, the waitress said the manager refused to come over and insisted it was “mandatory” because it was on the menu. That alone speaks volumes.

I’m always happy to support small, local businesses — but this? I genuinely felt mugged. This wasn’t just a disappointing meal; it was an expensive, frustrating, and frankly insulting experience.

Save your money and your stomach — avoid this place...

Lovely Nigerian restuarant with a nice ambiance. The food was really good and its presentation was excellent. The staff was friendly, polite, and professional. I was quite impressed with the efficient service. I would definitely dine there again. UPDATE: Visited my favourite Nigerian restaurant in Milton Keynes again recently. Food was still deliciously good and the ambiance was lovely, as usual. A few unsatisfactory issues i.e. the music was a bit too loud (based on where we were seated), our drinks arrived a little late (not a regular occurrence), and part of my food arrived lukewarm (an unfortunate incident). However, immediately I complained about my lukewarm food, they quickly rectified the issue by replacing it with a hot one. They are focused on ensuring the diners leave satisfied. I must reiterate that the food is very good and the staff is nice and polite. I recommend again for delicious authentic Nigerian food. I will be dining there again. UPDATE: Visited again. Not so impressed this time. Food was good but service has really gone down. The staff is still polite and friendlly, but they need to be trained. Slow and disorganised service. Plus, we discovered that they charge for tap water. This shocked us!! They also need to fix the door of their restroom. Not good for people at a table to have to see inside it whilst eating, especially when people make use of it and come out leaving the door ajar because it doesn't shut properly. Will still recommend for good Nigerian cuisine, but not the service.
