I visited the brand new 5AKHIS branch in Luton today (14th July) at 16:40 and Iâm genuinely shocked at how poor the customer service was.
From the outside, the branch looks great â clean, modern, and busy. But as soon as I walked in, the experience went downhill. Two men were walking out just as I arrived, clearly unhappy and saying they werenât willing to wait. I should have taken that as a sign.
Still, I went in and politely asked a simple question I always ask when visiting somewhere new: âWhatâs your most popular item?â The woman serving me looked at me with a clear attitude and dismissively said, âIâm going to pass you to my colleague.â That alone was rude and unprofessional.
The colleague she passed me to wasnât any better. She looked smug and sarcastically said, âTheyâre all popular,â again with a disrespectful tone. I couldnât believe the attitude over such a basic question.
Trying to move on, I ordered a classic beef burger and chicken burger (as shown in my receipt). Iâve been to the Milton Keynes branch before and they were amazing â friendly, helpful, and professional. This Luton team is the complete opposite.
To make things worse, they added drinks (7-Up and water) to my order without asking. I didnât request them at all. Then I was told the wait time would be 30 to 45 minutes â which is outrageous for burgers and fries.
The food coming out didnât even look fresh. I saw some of the loaded fries and they looked cold and thrown together.
Honestly, management needs to take a serious look at this team. If youâre trying to build a reputation in Luton, this is not the way to do it. The service was rude, unwelcoming, and sloppy. People will come once and never return if this continues.
If I were in charge, Iâd seriously consider replacing this staff team with people who actually care about customers and take pride in what they do. Youâve got a stunning new location â but your staff...
Read moreCame across this on Instagram and thought Iâd pay a visit, upon arriving it was very busy so I assumed they must be doing something right. Ordered my food, which came up to just under ÂŁ70 (2 meals, 1 single burger and a side). Half hour wait which was fine. Before the food was to be packed, we asked for it to be packed separately to which 2 staff members were happy to comply with however another staff member (may have been the manager or owner) had to put his two pence in about it being busy and how everything would be easier to pack into one bag, seeing customers in the shop I just said ok pack it in one bag however once the customers were served I asked again if they could just pack it separately instead and was met by a laugh and was told âI just told you Iâll pack it in one and you agreed as it makes it easierâ so instead of arguing I just let him do it. Coming to the food now, the Naga Bangla wings for starters- I assumed this was meant to be spicy but I didnât really feel the kick of spice.. it was just wings pasted with a lot of thick sauce and topped with some red chilli cut up. Wings tasted ok, were cooked properly but too much sauce. The burger I had was the big akhis which was quite big so Iâd say value for money on the burger was worth it but it was over-seasoned and despite being told it would be cooked at a medium rare, it was more medium well and one patty was even well done. I could literally taste the saltiness in my mouth on my drive back home thatâs how much salt was used (I live 1.5 hours away). Last but not least, the fries. I opted for sweet potato fries which quite frankly I didnât even consider finishing after having an initial 2/3 fries. They were just overcooked, looked burnt and had no flavour. Maybe Iâll return sometime in the future to see if they improve but based on my experience yesterday, it will take a while for...
Read moreVisited 5 Akhis express today with some friends, who has paraded about how good this place is and showed me all the social media hype surrounding it.
Quite simply one of the worst customer service experiences and below average tasting burger joints, Iâve ever come across.
We decided to dine-in and had to wait almost an hour for some burger meals plus desserts. The whole purpose behind an express is that itâs able to turnover food quicker, as itâs smashed Pattiâs not gourmet.
Anyway the food arrived - it looked âaestheticallyâ nice - but the chips tasted uncooked, chicken strips were over-cooked, very hard batter and not the best tasting, burgers were not marinated properly, with the meat tasting âbittyâ.
The atmosphere wasnât the greatest either - tv was really loud, no proper heating, it was extremely cold. The door kept opening every minute, with a cold blast of air coming through. Some other customers nearby felt our pain too.
Staff didnât communicate properly how long orders would take. The queue to order was large and there didnât appear to be any proper communication between the front of house and the back.
My order was mixed up which was frustrating having waited almost an hour.
Lesson to be learnt: take anything you see which has been hyped up on social media with a pinch of salt. Serious improvements needed - I will not be visiting again and those friends who took me there are lucky they are friends, otherwise I wouldâve disowned them.
Iâd recommend trying another burger joint, this place was...
