My husband and I visited this Costa Coffee with friends we were staying with On entering the shop we picked a table for four,at the entrance. The table had not been cleared no big deal so I lifted the tray of cups etc and took them to the counter . On my way bk to the table I noticed a,staff member filling up the front counter so I approached this lady and said excuse me but could I have a cloth just to wipe our table. With a face like thunder she threw the empty boxes she was folding down and threw these across to a table opposite clearly very annoyed at being disturbed. She did not answer and simply set off without a word. With a cloth and spray in her hand she returned walking straight past me no eye contact not a word and headed to our table . When she got there she pointed to sun glasses as if to motion my friends and husband to lift these which they did and wiped the table . At this point I was,so taken aback by the lack of service a smile a word anything really associated with good service and what I felt was an aggressive angry staff member who was simply very very annoyed at a normal customer request. Had the table been cleared and wiped on our arrival b4 filling up front of counter as it should be the incident would not have taken place and,my experience wld have been as it should pleasant cup of coffee in hand and enjoying a nice atmosphere. I am not convinced this ladies first language was English but this does not excuse her terrible behaviour towards me. Sick and tired of the lack of good service since the covid days and no idea what is going on in this country but as paying customers I do think that hospitality are forgetting who pay the wages It is us the paying public. I,was so upset at this lack of service that I approached a lady serving behind the counter and told her that it was unacceptable to be treated in way relaying what had taken place. She apologised but to be honest this wasn't heart felt because 10 minutes following this she leaned across the counter speaking with the staff member concerned both smiling looking twards my table which means it is a total waste of time complaining and expecting any kind of good service as that is today's hospitality culture not in all hospitality but in many coffee shops cafes and hotels. I came today to Costa in Bletchley as I wanted a latte (to sit in and drink) the lady at the till (blond hair and a bit overweighted) was excessively rude and with no manners. No greetings, she came straight to what do you want? I told her I wanted a latte then she handed it to me with no small plate neither a tray after dropping half of it around. I asked her for the cream and barely look at me and said itās an extra 50p . So I paid it and she didnāt say thanks neither a friendly smile. after few minutes I came back to her to give me a tray as the latte has made a real mess on the table due to her dropping it earlier. She didnāt give me tissue even tho I mentioned the mess on the table I had to ask her again for tissues. I was really mad at that point. I understand it might be stressful at work sometimes but thatās not a reason to treat people badly or do a horrible ...
