I went last night to work doing the sound for my partner who was singing. When we arrived, the place was almost empty, only one person inside. While we were setting up and doing the soundcheck, someone was kicked out by the owner yelling at him (at first we thought it was the guy’s fault). Later, several drunk people started bothering us, and neither the owner nor the bartender did anything. At one point, someone even tried to start a fight with me, saying things like “it’s normal you’re nervous but I’m not going to steal your girlfriend”, and still no one from the staff stepped in.
We did our job, asked for a beer which we paid for (at the price they asked for – and you’ll see why I mention this). When it was time to leave, we had to chase them just to get paid. To our surprise, they told us that because not many people showed up, they were going to pay us less than what was agreed. Basically, it was take it or leave it. This was told by the bartender, while the owner was too busy drinking beer. She kept complaining about “losing money” in her pub, but at the same time gave the impression she didn’t care about the place at all.
Honestly, a very unprofessional and disappointing experience. Not a place I would ever...
Read moreThe Plough has recently changed ownership and with that the Pub seems to have a new lease of life.
The staff are very welcoming and friendly and the Pub seems to have a much bigger focus on entertainment and live music which is great for a night out, even allowing more obscure or heavier music to be played.
Whilst the staff are great and management are new here, the Pub is in need of a little TLC, with very basic bathrooms, no mirror, poor handwashing facilities and a smashed window.
The Pub is split in two halves, there tends to be a more livelier side which is where the live music, karaoke and jukebox are and the opposite side which has a seating area with the bar central in-between the two.
When it's really busy it can get quite hot and I believe the windows cannot be opened anymore but the doors do open into the court-yard which can cool the room down.
The court-yard has a number of benches and smoking areas, with some partly being covered and nice decor lights.
Will return again and is quickly becoming a go to pub. Hopefully some minor changes can be made to improve...
Read moreHaving only run the Plough for 8 months. So many fake reviews appearing on my pages. The musician in question on a bad review being left on here was not professional. Karaoke at best. Not a power house rock chick that we were led to believe on booking them. So we stated we would pay £200 and not the full initial £250 fee which they accepted its only becamean issuewhen they slated us on fb and Google reviews. The whole evening was not a pleasant one. They had no following what so ever. Will never book them again. The gentleman in question had been asked to leave as he had been extremely rude to staff. He kicked the front door, took a swing at staff and punched the windows, we had to lock the doors for 20 minutes. We had to throw this man out again twice more during the evening. So the account that the sound engineer gave in a...
