I recently had dinner at Prezzo in Leatherhead and came away impressed. Located at 21-25 Church Street, the restaurant blends a lively, stylish ambience with a menu that truly celebrates Italian comfort food done well. If you’re looking for a relaxed yet satisfying meal, this place more than delivers.
Ambience & Service As soon as we walked in, the atmosphere felt warm and inviting. The lighting, layout and décor are contemporary without being over the top. Service was quick and friendly — our server was very helpful, explained some of the specials, and made us feel welcome. Even when things got busy, the staff stayed on top of things, which added to the pleasant experience.
Starters & Small Plates We started with a few shared plates. The Dough Twist was a highlight — pizza crust filled with mozzarella, béchamel and black pepper, baked golden and served with a dip of choice. It’s comforting, indulgent, and a perfect low-key starter.
Next, we had the Crispy Fried Mozzarella, which was crunchy on the outside, melty on the inside, paired with a spicy Calabrese ketchup. Also tried were the Pancetta Mac & Cheese Bites, rich and cheesy with good texture, and the Paprika-seasoned Calamari which came with a tangy “pestonnaise” dip. The warm Focaccia Bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar was also a simple but well-done touch.
Mains: Pizza, Pasta & More For mains, the range was solid. My group sampled the Spaghetti Carbonara — creamy sauce, well-cooked pasta, good pancetta and just the right amount of cheese. Another friend tried the Rigatoni Bolognese, generously portioned with a rich beef ragu. The menu also offers more adventurous or indulgent options: pizzas like Goat’s Cheese & Roasted Peppers-topped pizzas, the Pepperoni Pizza (classic but done with quality), plus various “al forno” baked pastas.
If you prefer something lighter, there are also salads, sides like Truffle Fries, and vegetarian or gluten-free pasta options, which shows good consideration for dietary...
Read moreThe restaurant was clean and tidy on arrival. A loud restaurant to be in with the sound reverberating off the walls easily making it a noisy place eat. We were a family of five with two adults and three children and arrived shortly after 6pm. The food was of good quality and arrived hot and well presented. The reason for 3 stars is due the wait times and service. From order to main meals was around 40 minutes. From dessert order to arrival was 30mins. There were initially two members of staff serving the tables which was clearly not enough. This went up the three when the staff member sorting drinks began to help. However, this delayed drink orders and also began to show with lots of tables requiring clearing and used glasses and bottles piling up on the bar. We were in the restaurant for just over 2 hours only for only a two course meal. Very disappointing service, but decent food. Uncertain if we...
Read moreService was great! Drinks were lovely. Friend and I shared the Crispy Fried Mozzarella and the Garlic Bread with Balsamic Onions & Mozzarella. Mozzarella was ok but the garlic bread was so good. Both large enough portions to share. For my main I had the Chicken, Prosciutto & Sage Saltimbocca. Unfortunately, this was awful. It was like something you'd eat on a restricted diet in the hospital. Very plain and little to no taste. Two friends at my table said they tried the dish before. One described the sauce as "dirty dish water" This was quite accurate. I finished with the Tiramisu which was absolutely amazing. Again, shareable but so good I didn't! I was with a large table, a variety of dishes were served - burgers, pasta, fish, calzone, and pizza. Overall everyone seemed quite pleased. Again, service was excellent and I'll be back to try...
