Today (27.10.20) was our first time here together: my wife and I, our oldest daughter with our youngest granddaughter, came just for a quick drink before returning home after a rather busy run around shops/banks/post-office/library and we were each actually rather taken with the whole 'Charlie & Ginger' offering, genuinely . Not 'crowded', we had to wait just a little while for a seat; staff were well presented, very polite (genuinely), properly helpful and willingly flexible; they arranged seating for the four of us together without fuss. Took our orders quickly and returned with the offerings faster than most places we've been to for a very long time. Drinks were a touch on the 'shallow' side but made up for it by arriving quickly, tasting delicious (was it the 'water'?!), and the cakes were a true delight; we weren't quite licking the plates but had the inclination to had we more time and were not already full from our previous meal together. The whole place was very clean, orderly, relaxing, comfortable, and importantly for us, not ringing with 'background entertainment music'. There was very little, if anything, to be very critical of. We all felt sufficiently happy to agree that we would not have any reservations of revisiting sometime soon. And we shall. A good intro. Charlie & Ginger just a little suggestion: you have achieved this in seriously challenging times and seem to have pulled it off nicely; how about providing your customers with a concise history of how your company came to life, with your primary values, attitudes towards clients, and as importantly, your intents a contributing to preserving the environment. You are likely to be rather pleasantly surprised at some responses you get from a properly delivered 'presentation' of your business and are increasingly likely to persuade more repeat business with such. All the best for you future here; we shall be back. Mark & Jenny,...
Read moreWith a quick search on Google when we arrived in Leatherhead I discovered Charles and Ginger cafe getting great reviews. As soon as we entered the door the atmosphere was enduring. A lovely warmth that enticed us to stay and wait to be seated. It was full but we managed a very nice couple of seats down the back. We seriously could have stayed here all day they were so comfortable. We placed our order before we sat. .the cake I ordered would have to be one of the Nicest cakes I have ever tasted. It reminded me of a Finnish sweet I had in Australia back in ingham. Finnish bread. Nutmeg and a sweet light dough that has stickiness to it. This was like that but with apple too. Heaven. The coffee was good. Davie got the lemon drizzle and said his was very yummy as well. The walls are lovely and dark blue grey and lights are soft. You can hear people talking but not enough to know what they are talking about so you space is your own. A...
Read moreA great little shop - I only visited in a search for some half decent bags of fresh coffee beans but the cafÊ itself turned out to be a real gem. I'm glad I stopped and had an espresso as it was pretty good and the ambiance inside is rather unique - dark and moody but not oppressive. In fact, it's rather cozy, especially the back area which has some cool mid century seats and fairy lighting. Plus, it's full of lovely green plants. There's outdoor seating with blankets and the staff were very friendly too. Even though the espresso wasn't the best I've had (though perhaps just because I prefer fruity sweet espressos and the house espresso was a bit more dark and chocolatey), it was heads and shoulders above what you'd get in a high street chain, and among the best in comparison to other speciality coffee I've had in the outer London area. Overall, I'd say you can get a very good...
