What a lovely meal we've had tonight for our wedding anniversary! Staying at Elmer's Court the other side of the water; we decided to head elsewhere for dinner. Fish was a priority and I'm so glad we decided upon this lovely pub restaurant. Everything I ate was really good. Lovely - and different - selection of Gins tempted me (had a raspberry Whitely Neill , served with mint leaves and my hubby a W.N quince Gin with blueberries! both with Fevertree tonic) We were shown to our reserved table. It was busy for a Tuesday though of course it is half term. Perusing the menu over some decent olives I chose Parma ham and roasted fig; hubby salt and pepper squid. Good presentation and portion sizes and it arrived very quickly. Mine was delicious, you could taste the freshness and quality ingredients. Checking menu items with Chef (I'm gluten intolerant) was done with ease and a smile. This is far from the norm, and so very appreciated! I had whole sole with samphire and lemon butter and parmentier potatoes. Hubby (who swopped potatoes with me a parmentier are my absolute favourite!....) had skate with capers and peas. Fish was cooked to perfection and clearly was extremely fresh ..it fell from the bones. It was beautiful! We had a bottle of Gavi wine which was lovely against the mild sweet fish, the butter and lemon.

I was too full really for pudding, even after a wait...had a scoop of salted caramel and raspberry sorbet. Hubby managed what looked like a truly delicious whisky and dark fruit trifle. An Amaretto and an Armagnac were good for digestion....and a quick game of a perculiar 3d version of Connect 4 type wooden game - I won! rounded off a wonderful evening. My grandparents lived in Lymington for many many years (Mr. Runeckles, dentist at Chawton house, now a doctors' practice,) and it was lovely to return. Thank...

we have had some awful exspeariances eating out when we are about in our motorhome, But I must say visiting the Fishermans rest was a pure delight , they found a place to park, a delightfull atmosphere, The best Sunday roast I e had in years great staff and god manners, leads to good management, thank you for a relaxing and peaceful visit, Mr and Mrs Digby. We'll it just goes to show how the world changes, it was our anniversary coming up so we thought we might go back to the fishermans rest, this is a reveiw of our second visit, we booked a table by the fire, we arrived and were showed to a table well away from it into a small table in a chilly corner away from the fire and the cozy area, I pointed this out that we were promised a fire side position, in time the put us in a different place within view of the fire that was a start, the fire was about to die and it was getting chilly , I ordered two three course meals with drinks, first my soup was luke warm , I then looked forward to my fillet beef medium rare , I've got to say it was pooring with blood , on my plate was one potato, Yes I repeat just one, and three small heads of cold brockerly, for the most expensive meal on the menu I was a bit supprised as the fire got dimmer and colder my wife put her coat on we were told that there was a problem with the chimney, I saw no more logs by the fire so presumed that was it it just got colder and colder we never once had a smile from any of the staff they were as cold as the room we left thinking we were a bit disappointed and made a note not to return, ,I suppose on reflection we shouldn't have gone back again, sad how things change cpt...

Visited as a large pre booked group. We had to preorder and pay before the meal which is understandable. We were greeted with ‘oh you’re early’ which wasn’t very welcoming. We had been given the use of an area with several tables and all was good. One of the group couldn’t attend as she was not well, no refund was offered and when we asked, there seemed to be a no refund policy? This in itself was annoying as surely the food could have been kept and reused for someone else - steak, turkey or nut roast, so nothing particularly exotic! However, the Fisherman’s decided to make the point as when we sat down, they insisted on serving the food for the person who wasn’t there!! How crazy and what a waste of food. The meal was OK and the table service was good, but the attitude of the lady in purple was not the most hospitable. We did have a great time and it was fantastic to meet up with...

Ate here after talking to someone in our B&B and was told they served good fish and seafood dishes we decided to give it a try. We booked a table just to be sure and as it was a nice evening decided to eat outside. The food was excellent we had salmon gravlax to start with seabass dauphinoise potato in a bisque and I had the seafood special. Service was good, water was constantly replenished without asking The man who served us I believe is the owner has a bit of a nonchalant demeanor but dont let that put you off Would definitely recommend if you like fish and sea food, we came to the New Forest to try a couple of restaurants should just have eaten here more often and saved a shed load of money
