Kidsgrove Oatcakes — Restaurant in Newcastle-under-Lyme

Relatively new to the area, thought I would give you a try seeing I had tried the other local oatcake shop in goldenhill. And I'm sorry but I couldn't recommend you at all, for starters I was told about 5 minutes wait and thought ok no problem,(for reference in store there was only 2 other customers waiting who had already placed there orders and were gone within minutes) and it's not that i mind waiting for good cooked food but, 20+ minutes later and watching 4 members of staff tripping over each other out back, left me wondering what the hell was going on! my food arrived and thought great finally. i live like 3 minutes away by car, got home opened my belly buster 12" oatcake which I've been waiting for as not long just finished an 8 hour shift, to be presented with on opening barely Luke warm slop! the oatcake had but almost disintegrated and it's contents all sitting in a blob, as you can imagine it was far from inviting to look at nevermind eat, but still it's too late now! This is what I've got, on to the contents sausage bland and tasteless, bacon it's definitely cooked but again unfortunately barley any warmth left in it and slightly stringy from the shoe lace bacon rind, egg rubbery and cold, mushrooms tasteless, beans could you spare them??? Comes to something when there's that few you can count them at a glance on the paper it's wrapped in and the brown sauce couldn't tell you, as none was present. to sum up it was just total epic failure, and such a wasted opportunity for...

I originally ordered 12 oatcakes and a mix for diy cooking on the 6th August. Nothing arrived by the 12th so I phoned and left a message. No one came back to me so I phoned and left a message and email the same day. Again, no one called me back. Today, 14th of August they arrived. Bacon and cheese oatcakes for tea, mmmm. Sadly, upon opening the packet of 12 oatcakes we found them to be extremely sticky with deposits left on our fingers. No good for the original finger food. We ended up grilling the oatcakes before we could even contemplate eating them. In the end we used knives and forks. We ate 2 each, a real hearty meal and both commented on the flavour of the oatcakes. No oaty taste or smell. What a disappointment. I was charged £5.00 delivery fee but postage was £4.08 for 48 hour tracked. 48 hours for a food item. Should have been 24 hours. We will not be using this company again as this experience has put us of. So to recap. They don't respond to phone calls or emails. They waited 6 days to post my order. The oatcakes were awful and sticky to the touch....

Nice oatcakes, wouldn't buy them cooked/filled again though. A few observations:

1. I ordered four doubles, got three doubles and a single.
2. One piece of bacon or one sausage per double, not really adequate coverage to me, would like them to be more upfront with that info, don't mind paying more for what I want.
3. The shop no longer sells cakes and other snacks based on the empty cabinets I saw today, which is a shame.
4. There's no indoor seating while you wait, the window space looks like a raffle, an odd thing to exhibit in the front window of an oatcake shop in my opinion.

I've had better recent experiences with High Lane and Goldenhill, worth considering if you're treating yourself and want to avoid...
