The Arnold Machin is part of the Wetherspoon chain and is located in Newcastle-Under-Lyme town centre. As can be expected from the Wetherspoon chain, they offer a large selection of food and drink at extremely low prices.
The menu is varied, offering something for everyone. Food ranges from pub classics such as burgers, steaks, curry, grills through to healthy salads. The menu has a calories indicator for each meal so it's easy to make healthy choices.
I've been visiting The Arnold Machin for many years and can say undoubtedly this is the best Wetherspoon pub in the area. The food is consistently good, the place is kept clean and is well looked after. There is an outside seating area which overlooks the Jubilee Gardens and is a great place to chill out.
The pub gets extremely busy over the weekends and can be extremely noisy. As part of the Wetherspoon brand, The Arnold Machin does not play music. This can mean its a great place to catch up with people, just not when they are busy.
The Arnold Machin accepts card payments with no minimum, they also offer an NHS discount.
Overall I am a big fan of the place. Food is always great and normally doesn't take long to arrive.
Due to a menu change a few years ago, the place isn't brilliant for Dietary requirements. Allergy information is available on the website but when I searched for gluten free, very few items...
Read moreCustomer service was awful, person in shorts with white shirt, part shaved hair served us and honestly they were unbelievably rude, had our food thrown at us literally slammed on the table, we got moaned at because we ordered to the number on the table but they had switch the tables ... how would we know ?? They kept taking our food around asking everyone if it was theirs... Also gave us our pudding on corner of table without taking our dirty plates away ... how do you want us to eat on top of dishes ?
When we 1st arrived we stood in the door way waiting and staff walked past us so I assumed we just fill in the form and sit down which I did and the lady with the curly hair possibly manager came up to us with an attitude because we "just walked it" also yeah we heard you say omg they just walked in !! Well don't walk past me like I'm not there . Demanded ID when we hadn't even sat down ? Most of the food was cold ! My fries were so cold and I told the lady they had forgotten them and she said were really busy and walked off ???!! Horrible experience and waste of money and that was our 1st time out in months, didn't dare complain on the day. I Don't want a refund or free food I just want you to train...

I gave this place 3 STARS due to them cancelling SUNDAY DINNER. I visited 2 weeks after they cancelled and this place is now dead on Sundays. #BringBackSundayDinner
I came for the English Breakfast and i have to say the flavours were banging in my mouth! Not only did it look like a classic English "Comfort food" but it gave a very good example of it.
Bacon - Best bacon i have had away from home with hardly any fat on. Fried Egg - Not too greasy like i expected and tasted spot on. Hash Brown - Could of done better and tasted hard. Toast - Excellent choice of bread but was cold and hardly toasted. Sausage - Nice n' spice makes breakfast taste so nice! Beans - Cold and tasted like there from a can.
I also had a filter coffee which was excellent value (compared to Costa) but the refills were bad, no really bad. First of all other customer think the milk is all for them and it took along time for the machine to be refilled as it was empty.
Dècor is like a typical British pub but also you have the daytime drinkers on the dole in here.
Overall this place is great value for the quality and is definitely worth a...
