I went to visit the archives (another one in disarray but i think they are trying hard to get it up and running again) Clare was encouragingly helpful. We also went on HMD to listen to various local speakers on; Wedgwood clan helping eastern Europeans to escape persecution, the tabloids at the time are very reminiscent of todays bull. The Daily mail hasn't changes its spots. Martin Morris on his Polish heritage, his grandfather's trek across Europe (3 years) to escape the Tsars conscription. Funny story as to how his family name changed. Listen to these guys they don't last forever! Also check out Roman Vishniac photography, an excellent record of life across Europe for Jews. Lastly, Ray Johnson on a school trip 25 years ago to Auschwitz number 1&2 camps. Interesting retrospective of 'kids' who went with other schools. Kath's Reminiscence Talks are very amusing & fun, wonderfully presented & she gets everyone chatting,great company & a cuppa!! Tea room menu with lovely fresh food served. Our grandaughters enjoy the entertainment & education & have such fun dressing up in costumes in the toy area. Not forgetting the volunteers who do a fantastic job. Ray Johnson's film on Arthur Berry last Saturday was amazing/ briliant & we are all hoping to see & hear more of Arthur's talks/presentations this brilliant centenary celebration to recognise his talents, amusing poetry (Ode to An Oatcake..my favourite)& his plays, reflecting our history in the Potteries.
