The Brampton Museum in Newcastle-under-Lyme is a delightful gem that offers a rich tapestry of local history and art. Nestled within the charming Brampton Park, the museum provides an engaging experience for visitors of all ages. The exhibits are thoughtfully curated, showcasing the area's industrial heritage, Victorian life, and an impressive collection of ceramics.

One of the highlights is the authentic Victorian street scene, complete with shops and a schoolroom, which offers a nostalgic glimpse into the past. The museum also boasts a diverse range of temporary exhibitions, ensuring there’s always something new to discover.

The staff at the Brampton Museum are welcoming and knowledgeable, adding to the overall warm atmosphere. Additionally, the surrounding park with its beautiful gardens, play areas, and aviary makes it a perfect day out for families.

In summary, the Brampton Museum is a must-visit for anyone interested in local history, culture, and art. Its blend of permanent and rotating exhibits, combined with its picturesque location, makes it a standout attraction in...

Lots of exhibits here, a very friendly staff. I went to visit the archives (another one in disarray but i think they are trying hard to get it up and running again) Clare was encouragingly helpful. We also went on HMD to listen to various local speakers on; Wedgwood clan helping eastern Europeans to escape persecution, the tabloids at the time are very reminiscent of todays bull. The Daily mail hasn't changes its spots. Martin Morris on his Polish heritage, his grandfather's trek across Europe (3 years) to escape the Tsars conscription. Funny story as to how his family name changed. Listen to these guys they don't last forever! Also check out Roman Vishniac photography, an excellent record of life across Europe for Jews. Lastly, Ray Johnson on a school trip 25 years ago to Auschwitz number 1&2 camps. Interesting retrospective of 'kids' who went with other schools. Apart from Ray & others, Martin Morris's father Sidney was there too. Lets not forget the respect we owe to generations who have...

My friends & I Absolutely love the museum & enjoy all the history talks by our local historians, film presentations. Kath's Reminiscence Talks are very amusing & fun, wonderfully presented & she gets everyone chatting, great company & a cuppa!! Tea room menu with lovely fresh food served. Our grandaughters enjoy the entertainment & education & have such fun dressing up in costumes in the toy area. Not forgetting the volunteers who do a fantastic job. Ray Johnson's film on Arthur Berry last Saturday was amazing/ briliant & we are all hoping to see & hear more of Arthur's talks/presentations this brilliant centenary celebration to recognise his talents, amusing poetry (Ode to An Oatcake..my favourite)& his plays, reflecting our history in the Potteries. We all look forward eagerly to forthcoming events.... especially...

Called in as a matter of interest as we were passing-by driving out of Newcastle under Lyme. When Google says " Local history museum & art gallery with a Victorian street scene, a toy collection & other exhibits" that is exactly what you get - with the addition of a small, serene garden which is very pleasant. The museum/art gallery is free (donate what amount you want to) and I would say charming and interesting. The experience seems to be geared around children and schools, which as an educationalist I am in favour of, even if the kiddies had taken over the Victorian street so we couldn't see it. A pleasant atmosphere all around, staff and cafe. It is what it is, and what it is, is nice.

I was visiting Newcastle-under-Lyme for the day and, with time to kill, looked in at the Brampton Museum and Gallery. The building itself is charming. The staff are polite and helpful. However, in every other respect, this visit was disappointing. This is a museum from yesteryear with too many dusty looking cabinets full of non contextualised items and too few interactive displays. The exhibition 'The Borough in 80 Objects' purported to tell Newcastle-under-Lyme's story through a series of items on display. It may have done so, but only if you were prepared to bend down and read the many display cards positioned far below one's eyeline with a typeface too small to make reading easy.
