It’s not often I’ll leave a negative review of a restaurant, especially from a local chain who have never let me down at their other locations. The venue itself is lovely and the food, much like at all lobo locations I have visited was excellently done. The service we received from Niall H was also excellent.
The problem lay with the front of house host with dark hair. I’m not too sure if she is the manager as her uniform was slightly different but God help this place if she is, because her attitude is stinking. She possesses all the charm and charisma of a raincloud and the longer she’s entrusted with greeting staff the less chance the restaurant will have of building a loyal base of local customers. When asking for a table for four we were met with a sigh and it truly seemed as if she would rather us turn around and visit another restaurant. She was about as welcoming as a stop sign. One of her colleagues with red hair stepped in instead to say sorry she’ll just take you to your table now, or something along those lines, but it seemed even her colleagues could sense that her attitude was foul. It’s embarrassing to have to step in for your colleague because they can’t do their job right.
As well as this, when we were paying for our bill she added the optional gratuity without asking if we would like to pay it. Personally we would have had no problem paying this towards any other member of staff who served us that day, Niall or the red-headed server who seemed to sense her colleagues awful attitude. They were great and deserve the gratuity, with their hard work and the positive attitudes.
I understand it’s easy to have a bad day at work but if you can’t fight your way out of a mood then hospitality, especially serving, should not be your job role. Whoever the host with the dark hair is, I truly hope it was just a bad day but looking at the other reviews it does not seem so. Get a job in an office and be miserable there, don’t ruin the vibe of an otherwise...
Read moreWow. We live in London and were up visiting family. The offer of a familial babysitter was snapped up but we didn’t know where to go for dinner on a Saturday night, last minute and without a reservation. I found out about this latest extension of the lobo family and managed to snag a 8:45 reservation for the same evening. From the moment we walked in, we had the warmest and most attentive service we have experienced in a long time. From pre-empting I needed a cushion for my bad back, to making our cocktails ‘with love’, we felt like we were in our own private dining experience but with the vibey ambiance of a full dining room with a fantastic backing soundtrack. The food was delicious and everything exceeded expectations. While we were dining we booked lunch for the next day with family we before we head back to London. Which gives us an excuse to try the sandwiches and burritos we didn’t have the capacity for! Thank you Lobo Rojo for the...
