At first, we were a little disappointed. We arrived one hr early and couldn't be seated, so we sat at the bar for a pre-drinks for an hour. As we waited, there were 3 empty tables (2, abd 2x 4 seaters), and was showing availability online. So we were not sure why we had to wait so long. As soon as our booked time came, we watched a table being cleaned down for us (the 2 seater that had been empty the whole duration we were there), and we got seated at our allotted time. The food and service was awesome! So was worth the wait. There was a special menu on. £20 for 3 courses and pay for the extras (such as sauces and extra sides) , but we wanted the surf and turf from the main menu. It was around £80 that came with sirloin and rump steak, king prawns, squid rings, oysters, fantastic lobster and prawn mac&cheese, as well as your own chosen 4 sides. We had garlic Brocoli, beef dripping chips (LOVE THESE!), beer battered onion rings, and cheesy brisket hash browns. We also had a garlic sauce, which was extra. It was all INCREDIBLE! I'm not a fan of oysters but I tried it anyway. It did have shell in, which cemented why I really dont like oysters. We requested medium on both the steaks (as couldn't have diff temps). My hubby likes his steak done rare and I'm a well cooked kinda gal. Tbh the sirloin was more med-well, and the rump was cooked well done. So I was super happy 😄. Hubby still really enjoyed it, and they were seasoned really well. All together, we paid around £120 which includes drinks and extras. We didn't have puds, and we were stuffed! Even with these small niggles, I would highly recommend going again. Highly enjoyed the food and could eat it all again (minus the oysters for me! Hubby can have both next time 😊).

Ordered squid for starters - little rubbery and stuck together which isn't what I'd expect for squid. Though the sauce was nice otherwise. For mains I had the burger. It came with some fries and coleslaw. The coleslaw had a nice spice to it, which I don't mind but might catch some people off guard. The chips ... Well they're chips nothing wrong here. For the burder itself, the burger bun was over toasted, and the burger itself a little dry which surprised me as it's sold as wague. Which normally has a higher fat content, so I'd expect more juice from the burgers. But in the small print there is note that it's not 100% wague and more bred in the UK from stock years ago. But still it was dry. At the table there were also two steaks that were ordered one came out as rare, rather than medium rare as requested. The second one was cooked medium rare. All side dishes were said to be better than the main dish piece. The starter for the meatballs were also apparently on the dry side. There was quite a delay between starters and mains coming to the table, though there wasn't a full dining room. Which meant we were hungry between courses. The toilets were out of order, there were two buckets in a pool of water that you had to pass through to even get to the toilets to begin with. Though nothing to suggest they were out of order until you wade through the pool. As a table we didn't end up getting dessert. Overall for the price, waiting times and quality, this is middle of the road at best. I think the biggest disappointment is as a steakhouse I would expect perfect steaks cooked to order.

Was welcomed by a lovely lady in a warm and clean setting. My waitress seemed abit stroppy as she was walking around taking orders. She seemed to light up through the night though when engaged in conversation about the Menu. Crispy duck wraps were really tasty, but the Duck was alittle soggy it was covered in Hoisin, rather than giving me a spoon to help myself with Hoisin. The bowl of hoisin seemed more like more like a dip. The steak was well seasoned and good perfectly with distinctive grill marks. However, I do wish more steakhouses gave you the option of grilled, or pan fried as ill always go for pan fried. I feel grilling steak is the easy option for a restaurant to pump out orders without love. The parm fries were to die for along with the beefy gravy! I could just of had a plate full ... sadly the brocoli was a let down and still really hard. Not al dente as it should be. Desert was a novelty, yet very scrumptious and morish. The sauce was sadly not hot enough to melt the chocolate dome properly and turned it into a soupy mess. I was very pleased to hear when the waitress brought the bill over, that the service charge was optional and can be removed. She may get stick for saying it but I think adding a sneaky service charge on is not right. I'd rather give some cash to the waitress for her own pocket. The meal for myself was quite expensive and would say its just alittle over priced, but saying that I did enjoy myself despite being alone. I would recommend but perhaps as a one off or for a special occasion.

So we had never been to this restaurant chain before, but had been to Rio upstairs and they would be hard to compete with (and if you've been there, you will agree with me). Anyway, booking very easy online and what was different from most booking forms was that there was a section for special information or requests. Just so happens my good friend had just got word of a new full time job in the fire brigade after many, many years of trying, so a meal to celebrate. I requested for a candle on his steak as he is not a dessert person and was unlikely to order one. Request, more than adequately dealt with. The smile on his little face at the surprise!! Not only that I managed to persuade him to have a dessert and they knocked that out of the park with a special off the cuff dessert board with congratulations on it just for him. The staff were very nice and very attentive and whilst doing their jobs very well, they were very congratulatory for him and this seemed genuine and not forced at all, which was very nice. Now in my opinion, the food was exceptional. Yes, not cheap, but then i did offer to pay for all 4 of us. But, in my book you get what you pay for most of the time. We had a range of starters, I had the beef spring rolls, delicious. For my main I had 8oz fillet steak with salt and pepper chips and bacon and cream peas. Now bacon and cream peas, a new one on me but a new favourite, wow, could have eaten a huge bowl of these! Chips were ok, for me they just tasted of chinese 5 spice and i was left wishing i had just had the skinny fries. For dessert I had the tomahawk bombe. A delicious dessert with all my favourite things in; salted caramel, chocolate, honey comb, ice cream, popping candy and a bit of theatre. If you've had one you will have appreciated it as much as me, if you haven't I won't give it away, but you should really have one. The dessert menu was full of desserts i love. I chose this as it was the only one I couldn't have somewhere else. There is an optional service charge, which they make you aware of before you pay, but I was very happy to pay it, we had a lovely time and will likely go back in the future many times. Thye discussion came to if there was a choice between Tomahawk, Rio and Miller & Carter left many at the table saying Tomahawk. For me I would find it hard to choose between the 3 as I think they are all equally as good with different plus points. Please note I say plus points as I have no negatives after this particular visit. I mention Rio and Miller & Carter in order to try and give a balanced account of my visit and try to give something for people thinkg about visiting something to...

If you’re thinking of visiting- don’t! Had an awful time at this restaurant just recently. Booked for a special occasion, and we were first placed on a table next to a big table full of loud men, and we couldn’t even hear each other speak. Luckily, after speaking with someone about it, we were moved into the restaurant where it was a bit quieter. Then- our food genuineky took over 1.5 hours to arrive. After raising this issue with a male staff member, presumably the manager, he argued back. After asking for an apology, he still didn’t even give one. Surely this is the first thing you do as a server if the customers are complaining about a valid problem? After a few more white lies about when the food was going to arrive, it finally came and was not as good as we expected, steak was tough, chewy etc. after finishing the food, one of the servers came to ask us how it was. We stated it wasn’t great, and that we’d like to speak with a manager. After many more minutes of waiting for someone to come over, asking consistently every 5 minutes and the male server who might have been the manager visibly ignoring us and glaring over in our direction, a nicer lady came over, but was still very argumentative, not apologetic and kept asking us “so what do you want then?!”

I’m not an expert but I would’ve said that a skilled or trained member of staff at any level would have the intelligence and integrity to be able to apologize to the customer, make them feel better about the issues they raised and compensate them about it, rather than disputing it, disrespect the table and ruining everyone’s day on the special occasion.

A couple positives, the sides were good, other members of staff friendly and attentive etc, just a certain few that ruined it.

Higher management/ anyone who is reading this please don’t hesitate to contact me about refunding our meal...

I Came here last night for my birthday meal. The staff were really friendly but you could tell they were overwhelmed with how busy the place was.

They had my 3 person booking down on a 2 person table but that was quickly remedied and we were also moved away from a particularly loud and rowdy group without us having to ask which was lovely of the server.

Unfortunately though I will say the wait times for food were a bit too long. Our table was booked for 7:15pm and we didn’t see our mains until nearly 8:50pm. We tried to flag down a staff member for some more drinks during the wait but the staff were all rushing around, and when my brother went to the bar to see if he could order he was sent back to the table after being told someone would be there eventually.

Our food, when it did arrive wasn’t the correct order but for another table who had ordered similar dishes but who had arrived a good half an hour after us. Again this was quickly remedied so thank you for that! However when our food arrived we found some parts of our food were extremely hot and others were stone cold, the steaks themselves were VERY rare and it did take some carving to get my steak into pieces with quite a dull knife as it wasn’t pre sliced like the rest of the tables. Again, we tried to catch the attention of the servers but they seemed very busy. We thought we’d just wait until our server came to check on how we were doing but unfortunately that didn’t happen.

All in all, it wasn’t bad by any means. We enjoyed our evening, The staff were friendly and accommodating when they weren’t rushing around. It’s definitely not a bad thing to be busy but it did feel like we fell through the cracks here.

I would recommend this place, but maybe try and pick a time when it’s...
