I have been going to the hanbury since I was a child and itās always been our favourite place to go to in Caerleon. The last few years, my family and I have noticed the service going from 10 to 0.
⢠we asked to see the cocktail menu and they didnāt have any and also couldnāt tell us what cocktails they sell
⢠I had asked for a coffee and the bar maid huffed and puffed explaining to me how long it takes to make it. I had informed the manger about this.
⢠Observing wrong food getting brought out from the kitchen to a big table 3 times.
Today has really done it for me. As we arrived at the hanbury we noticed there is now a pay to park machine. There was 7 elderly people looking at the machine for over 10minutes and had been in and out several times asking for help and no one came out they only helped them verbally. We were told to put £1 in and we will get our money back. Then another bar staff told us that we had to put the amount in that we were planning to stay for. Me and the other customers had then decided at this point that it was too complicated to stay so we all left and decided to go somewhere else. Before I left I had informed the bar staff that they had lost 9 customers due to this inconvenience and she laughed in my face.
Itās such a shame that the service has gone so downhill as this was a place I spent most of my childhood. After today I had to post something about this as...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent there for a wake. Staff were told vegetarian's would be attending but they still put the food on same platter/touching the meat stuff. My partner just ended with chips and bread and butter because of the cross contamination of foods. There were no serving tongs provided for the chips or salads. We had to put our hands in and retrieve it that way š©š±
Food was fully unwrapped and as it is situated by the river there are more flies and I saw a massive one crawling all over the food. š±š¤® Should have left some wraps or something to help protect it. The hot food was served piping hot at least.
The room we were in had a dumb waiter and the condiments in it so unfortunately there was a steady stream of people in and out of the room taking stuff in and out for other patrons.
Loads of school kids there and some appeared to be intoxicated which was worrying. Thankfully apart from the staff we were left on our own.
The pub appears to be stonewall construction with tables out by the river. I would never go back as if they allow cross contamination of veggie food, it just worries me about eating out as a family. I'm not a veggie but some of them are and it's not right to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have been coming to the Hanbury off and on for years as I grew up in the local area, it wasnt until I returned for the first time yesterday since having a baby I've decided to leave a review. I came here for lunch and enjoyed my visit (until the end). The food was tasty, decent price and the bar staff was friendly. When it came to leaving, it became a stressful experience with a baby. The doorways to the pub are met with steps immediately behind the doors, getting through with a pram was not easy. Again, steps into the female toilets in order to access the baby changing facilities. The cubicle with the changing table is not big enough to fit a pram in so had to leave the door wide open with the pram only half in the cubicle. The changing table is mounted so high on the wall, to change my babies bum I had to go on my tiptoes and it made it a real struggle. I then needed a wee myself but again, couldn't fit the pram in any cubicle with me and as I was alone in the pub, I had to decide to just go to the toilet with the door open and the pram in the doorway of the cubicle. It was a shame this all became such a faff because otherwise...
