Popped in for some food with the children. All the draft/tap drinks were off due to an issue with cooling system. All they had to offer was cans and bottled drinks. I ordered 2 cans of coke which came to £4.80! Absolutely disgusted at the price. We then went to order food and only one side of the menu was available. The choice of food was so poor we ended up leaving to go somewhere else. Another thing to note is they now charge for parking??? Unbelievable.
Response to Owner
First and foremost whether you like it or not, the review is completely accurate.
In response to YOU telling me which way I walked through the building, I will correct you there as I did not walk through the beer garden area I walked through the main front door.
As previously stated we were advised by the member of bar staff the all draft was off. However, we were not advised that draft beers were being sold in the garden. Which as an alternative was being supplied it would be nice to inform customers of this not just assume they know.
Sugar Tax came into force in April 2018 so you can hardly use that as an excuse at the extortionate price of a can of Coke. I appreciation the price of inflation also, but when your equipment isn't working and the only alternative is priced so high it's hardly fair on the customer is it?
With regards to the menu, on your website it shows two different menus. With the comment "Here is an example of some of our menus" if anything is misleading that is. And the menu we were given was double sided and advised we were only able to pick options from the one side.
When we spoke to the member of bar staff about the parking all we were advised was the camera is currently not working so we didn't need to worry about paying. Nothing was said to us at all the patrons do not need to pay for parking.
I find it bizzare that the way you have worded your response to my review is that you were there with us from the minute we left the car. Telling me which way I walked in and what I was told etc... You were not there. So again your response is misleading.
Clearly you DON'T welcome bad feedback as is shown in...
Read moreI came to the ship on Friday for the first time and all I can say is I won't be going again. We were a group of 3 and we wanted some food and some drinks. Got to the bar and was served by a gentleman who had next no customer service and seemed like he didn't want to be there. That was the first red flag. Your selection of spirits is so poor that it was embarrassing. No premium spirits just the basics that every pub/bar has. Then we ordered food(which isn't cheap) we were told that the chicken goujons were out which was no problem... they were replaced by 3 cheap sausages for the same price which was a problem as 3 sausages don't add up to £6.95. friend orders a burger and oh my god! You're charging £12.95 for a burger while using the cheapest patty's you can find. It smelt like death and tasted the same. It was completely left as it was so bad. My friend ordered fish now that was a great size and tasted ok, But the mushy peas that came with it were dry and solid So they were left. We ordered one more drink to wash down the awful food and the woman who served us just floated through the order, no eye contact no " what can I get you" no " Thanks" nothing just took the money and walked off.
You're in an amazing location and you're the first stop before crossing the bridge. You're wasting so much potential by doing everything on the cheap whether it be the food or your drink selection. Improve your food quality. The burger patty was something you'd find in a...
Read morePLEASE ALSO SEE NASTY RESPONSE FROM OWNER, HOW PROFFESIONAL!Terrible Sunday lunch at the Ship on Sunday 30th June. We ordered 2 x beef dinners, 1 x chicken dinner and a child's chicken. We had to ask for our order to be taken. When they came out, the beef dinners had a small portion of chewy, thin, burnt ends of beef on them. All dinners were cold and served with spoonful of rock hard peas and 2 tender stem broccoli. Add to that hard carrots, 1 parsnip and 3 roast pots (not really roasted, more like boiled pots) and a yorksire pudding. My partner sent her beef dinner back and when they returned it 10mins later, it was had been transfered into a huge bowl, swimming in gravy. It was as if they'd scrapped her original dinner into a bowl, added some better meat slices and added extra gravy. It looked like something I'd serve my dogs. I told them I won't pay for the 1 beef dinner (my partners) but will pay for mine as I'd eaten the veg, yorkshire pudding and stuffing, but not the meat as it was inedible. I think for £17 a dinner that it's disgusting to serve such poor quality food. Add to that over priced drinks, needless to say we wouldn't recommend or be returning. I will add, the staff were apologetic, and happy to take the...
