Stopped in when staying in Newcastle, level access and highchairs available, bathrooms available. A lot of families present. Staff were lovely, even though the waitress was extremely busy we never once felt rushed and they provided good service. We enjoyed our food, mine felt like there was a lot of peppercorn in it. I did not mind that much however, be warned if that's not your thing as my husband thought the same and he had a different dish as well as to ladies at a different table who stated the same but they could not take it. That said I enjoyed my meal, I didn't finish only due to the large proportion size. I would eat there again

I hated it; the owner stared me down while as we where waiting, made me feel like he didn't want us there at all. I will never go back, I will admit the food was ok but it was far too over priced for what you get. It was something like what you would get at Balmoral Show! My "6oz" beef burger was for too big for it's bun and the slice of cheese barely covered 30% of the thing. If you would like a good restaurant experience, avoid this at all costs!

After long hiking in the the forest, we looked for a place to have a dinner. We found many options. We walked around and then found Doc's. It's one of the best resturant and food I ate in my life. ( almost 50 years old and been in more than 20 countries around the world). Our plan was just a dinner, but it became a great food and resturant experiences. A place you may drive for more than 3 hours, just to enjoy the food again.

Menu actually looked quite diverse which was nice to see for a chip shop. However, the food I personally ordered didn't come as described and a little lackluster (clearly trying to save a buck or 2 on the main part of the meal) I asked if I could just have a little extra as there was little on the plate and that it wasn't a problem but just wanted a bit more, £11 for some grains and a bit of broccoli seemed steep so assumed they'd pop me a bit of extra in a bowl and I'd be full.

Unfortunately, the manager didn't take it we'll when the wee girl asked to make an extra portion and came and asked if everything was alright stating that I wasn't happy. I said it was fine, and just ordered a little more. The waitress came back and said that they'd get me an extra portion and would be a couple of minutes. She came back once more to say it would be on its way soon. Alas....

They waited till the table had finished their food and came back and said that it would be with me soon. I'd been holding off on my plate as much as possible so I could enjoy my main with all the additions. It still didn't come. I finished my food and everyone had ordered tea and coffee. They then bought me out a whole new dish, which to be honest, wasn't a great improvement on the initial meal and just looked like an act of disapproval. After several snide looks and smirks from the manager I ate the cheese, yes, it was a little halloumi, apparently a steep ask, i left the rest because well, I was full and it was clearly a statement.

The wee girl dealt with it well, even though it really wasn't and shouldn't have been a problem. She almost looked embarrassedt be honest. And so would I have been. It wasn't overly busy, they weren't rushed, but he really let his team down and set a real bad example.

I work in hospitality and I couldn't imagine having to have that conversation knowing all the customer wanted was a little cheese and the manager was purposefully making it difficult. That wee girl had to explain the food was coming 3 times and made her look like she couldn't get a simple request sorted.

Don't worry, I know what it's like, exactly what it's like, I just hope the manager sees that it made me very uncomfortable as a customer and based on that, probably won't come back. Shane because other than the lack of, the food was seasoned really well and had nice flavour.

Thanks for a lovely...

Unfortunately the staff and how the manager dealt with our complaint let the restaurant down. As most will be aware Newcastle operates a one way system with one hour parking. Myself and my family had checked the time we entered the restaurant because of the one hour parking, so I know exactly when we stepped through the door. We were seated immediately and ordered within 10-15 minutes Exactly an hour after arriving I went out to move the car and when I came back in we still hadn't been served our food. When I asked the waiter he told me the order had only been in for twenty minutes, I asked if the waitress had forgot to put the order in as we had been there over an hour and we believed the order was placed at least 45 minutes ago. The waiter made me out to be a liar and when I asked when we would get our meal no one came near our table to explain what was going on. When I approached the manager he shrugged it off and said that's just how it is. In my opinion waiting over an hour for an explanation never mind the food is far too long to wait, especially having two small children under the age of four to entertain. The manager just didn't care and when I asked him for the procedure for complaints he fobbed me off once again. Food was good but service was terrible, not even an opology. Unfortunately...

Disappointed on this occasion tbh. Me my wife and son just left there after travelling from Belfast to lay flowers at family memorial site. Son got preference and called Docs as he enjoys the Hotdogs and chips, he's a plain eater say the least. I ordered Panko breadcrumbed fish and chips with side salad. My wife ordered the battered fish with chips and mushys. The fish came and initially I thought it was southern style panko but no it was just too over done. Breadcrumb too crispy, thin fish and no taste if it really. Chips and salad fine. Wifes Cod looked a lot thicker than mine but again the batter was dark and too over done, too brittle and hard. The fryer has took his eye off the ball on this occasion. Ragin tbh, was just after a walk and hungry, that's why the food was ate and not left. Sins hotdog was fine. The server was nice and probably assumed the food was 100% because we were hungry and didn't leave much. Left after paying £46 odds unsatisfied which I hate and also not tipping which we always do, unless the food is disappointing. My last review of Docs was 5 star and highly recommending after a Roast beef dinner, which was delicious. I will go back and give it another go over the holidays but might stick to...
