I am disabled and use a wheelchair. The McDonald's I visited with my husband and with my Son and Granddaughter was very busy, but it was a Saturday evening so that was to be expected. Both of which probably had a knock on effect to both the service and atmosphere. We waited at least half an hour for our food to be delivered to our table, which again was not much of a problem from the point of view of how long it took to be served. However, as we found out to our detriment the day before at a different McDonalds (which we had visited for a cuppa, an ice-cream - the weather was unseasonably warm - and a loo stop), you are only allowed to stay there for 90 minutes.
At the McDonalds we had visited the day before, we were parked in a disabled space and just hadn't noticed the sign (it was there, and quite visable) during the time my husband was getting my powered wheelchair (both big and very heavy) from the back of our wheelchair accessible vehicle (WAV), and me transferring into it, probably because it all takes some time, effort, and concentration for us to complete those manoeuvres! But we take full responsibility for not seeing the sign, as I don't know what the parking provider company could have done any differently, short of having the sign pop up out of the ground in front of us as we were parking!
Anyway, it was a lovely and sunny late afternoon, so we decided to sit outside with our ice-creams and cups of tea and coffee respectively, and as there were other tables available we didn't feel rushed, so my husband decided to sort out the tablets I would need for the next 24 hours (we had been on the last day of our holiday in that area, and he had not had time to do them earlier), which took about 15 minutes. We then needed to use the disabled loo, which with my disabilities and problems took about 25 minutes, luckily no-one was waiting for the loo when we left it.
To get to the point that I am apparently struggling to make, while my husband put my chair back in the car I looked out of the front windscreen at a couple of seagulls perched on top of a sign, so I read the sign... and then panicked, and called to my husband "what time did we get here, there is a 90 minute waiting time, and then we are fined £100!" So he just rushed around and got into the car and by the time we left the car park we had been there for 93 minutes. Will we be charged? I certainly hope not, it depends on how strict the parking company are.
Back to the Saturday evening McDonald's, which was in a different county to the previous day's; we made sure to check if there were any parking restrictions at this one, and sure enough it was another 90 minute rule. At least we were forewarned this time. As it was so busy my husband and Granddaughter were in the que for at least 10 minutes and we had already taken 5 minutes getting out of the car. So by the time the meals arrived it had been at least 45 minutes since we arrived in the car park, but more likely 50 to 55 minutes. We live hundreds of miles away from that particular Son and Granddaughter, so we obviously have lots to chat about when we get a chance - but we also had to keep an eye on the time, so about 15 minutes before our time was up (wanted to leave time for any minor emergencies!) we started to say our au revoirs, and had about 5 minutes left by the time we left the car-park. Unfortunately, I had wanted to get our Son and Granddaughter puddings, and maybe coffee's for the adults. Luckily, as my husband and I were staying in a Premier Inn quite close by, we could both hang on to use the loo in our ensure!
So my ONE star rating is for EVERY McDonalds that only allows 90 minutes parking time, and especially for not giving an extra half an hour for places that get ridiculously busy, or for people with very young children, and disabled people. An extra annoyance is that both McDonalds we visited last weekend were not near any shops, or other attractions, so no need for...
Read moreSeveral complaints. Here we go. Firstly, we were asked to move from our seats almost immediately, which were in the public seating area, with no indication that the seats were reserved. This isn't a Michelin starred outfit. Seats are not normally reserved. It transpires upon enquiry that these were reserved for delivery drivers to sit until their orders are called out. When I asked were the signs were to indicate this, I was told a previous customer had removed them, and I was told that other areas of the previously public seating are now also off limits. These were reserved for staff to take their break in. Clearly being a paying customer is no longer sufficient. Next complaint. These delivery drivers have it turns out, extra parking spaces. In that when the car park is full or they can't be asked to park in a regular spot, or wait for one to become available, like the rest of us paying customers, parking right across the pedestrian crossing to the main entrance is apparently quite acceptable. I witnessed a steady stream doing precisely that and all went completely unchallenged. Here is the last. The staff seem unfamiliar with their menu. I asked if anything other than fries, kechup, fruit or side orders were vegan, and directed to a leaflet with some of this information. I was delighted to find on the leaflet a wrap and yes it was indeed vegan, but where is it on the computer menu I asked myself. Upon enquiry, I was told it was not longer available. What a waste of time. I waited for my family to complete their meals and...
