Appalling food. Fish was dry in a truly revolting batter that wasn't cooked inside. The chips were horrible, overcooked, dry and mostly what can best be described as the crispy bits from the bottom of the fryer. I ordered takeaway. It was handed over in a container that wasn't closed. Really inedible and even my cats turned their noses up at the fish I retrieved from the batter. This place has obviously been taken over again recently and I won't be returning.

Very friendly staff, they recognize my parents who get "the usual" when they visit. Fish and chips were delicious. The chips are unusual - not greasy and with a little bit of a crunch to the outside. Several tables to sit at to eat if required. The place was also very clean and bright. Portions we're a good size too. Note they are cash only, no credit cards. Highly recommended.

We were recommended to come here for the battered chips - having never had them before. They were so right! Wonderfully crisp outside and fluffly on the inside. Beautiful piece of cod too. Doggies allowed, which makes a huge difference to us. Very efficient and friendly service. Plus to top it all off, doggie was given a free sausage. Just great - thoroughly recommended.

To put it in a top line, Simply Sensational

From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by a friendly and welcoming face. We both ordered the fish and chips (one small and one regular) while we waited. The lady behind the counter chatted to us and was very friendly.

The meal was very reasonably priced, and for the quality a steal.

We took the food away with us and ate it back in our airbnb (only about 15 mins away). The food was still hot.

The fish is very fresh and flavoursome and flakes with ease. It comes in a soft and tasty batter that isn't too heavy but packs a great flavour.

The chips. Well, wow. They are coated in a sort of crispy batter themselves that honestly, i couldn't stop devouring them. (Even after i was filled up)

The only negative (if it is one) is its a shame it not more local to me [but again my waistline...

Had fish & chips plus a drink. We were served in the seating area outside as it was a nice day. They also have indoor seating. It took a bit longer than expected for the food to arrive but it was worth the wait. Our family all agreed that they served the best chips we have ever tasted and having visited many chips shops in our time, including Rick Steins, that it high praise indeed. The battered cod was also very nice. The price was also good. Around £9.99 for a regular fish & chips. They offer a 10% discount for take away meals. It would have been nice if they had offered a small fish & chip special like our local chippie as I do not have a large appetite, but I must confess the chips were that good I ate more than I normally do at lunch time! I will pop in again for fish & chips next time I go to Barnstable. The staff were also...

We were staying locally and ordered our meals online, very easy to do, we ordered take away. We were notified by phone of time to collect. When we arrived my better half decide she wanted to dine in! This however was no problem, we were seated and the meal plated up for us, excellent service! (We were even told that if we were prepared to wait they would fry us fresh food). The food was excellent, crisp tasty batter, moist, flaky, sweet fish and crunchy, fluffy chips, perfect. A very good meal, reasonably priced with exceptional customer service. Well worth a visit. Highly...
