The food quality was very good and tasty.staff were attentive and friendly. Portion sizes...Not so much. Food was served hot and arrived promptly. I have to admit that there wasn't sufficient choice for me,especially on the 2 course separate menu. There was no scampi or battered fish on offer on either menu,only pan fried fish of which l'm not a fan. I'm aware they have the award winning fish and chip shop opposite but preferred to dine here as it was a 'special' birthday. My daughter,who is 12 and my sister, who are both small eaters ordered the small plate fillet steak, my daughter ate hers minus the beans and my sister was left hungry having had to order another portion of fries. I understand that it was a small plate and as such the meat element would be small but the fries were a meagre amount...potatoes are the cheaper part of the meal and l consider that they had been 'stingy' with their offering. My brother in law was also left hungry after a burger meal. My mother's liver was quite fatty and the veg a tad undercooked. Husband was happy because he had ordered nachos( a sharer portion) and chilli/cheese topped fries. I had the Mac and cheese which had half a tomato in the bottom of the quite small "handled tin" it was served in...this took up quite alot of room that would have been better served as all mac 'n' cheese with a sliced garnish on top. l'd also had to have fries as an addition to the salad that was included(this was a regular portion, not large) My dad ordered the large curry,which he enjoyed and ate all of. None of these meals were generous in nature...

My family and I usually come here for special occasions and this year we decided to visit for New Year's Day. We were very disappointed with a couple of things. When we were seated at our table, staff members were taking down all of the Christmas decorations (very noisily may I add). This was making it very difficult for us to have any conversation or even concentrate on reading the menu. One member of my party's space was very rudely invaded in the process of taking down some decorations and this made them feel quite uncomfortable. Service was a lot slower than usual, even though the restaurant was not very busy. There seemed to be some sort of business meeting going on too because there were measurements being taken of various fittings and fixtures which made us feel even more uncomfortable. When having a drink in the bar before being seated in the dining area, I couldn't hear myself think with all the young children and hustle and bustle going on surrounding them. There were buggies lying around everywhere and little room for anyone else to sit and enjoy a quiet New Years Day drink. The young children then started to affect our meal in the dining area as the parents of said children, thought the dining area was a good place to teach their toddlers how to walk! Very selfish and inappropriate to do when a family is trying to enjoy some quality time together celebrating.

Frankly, this has completely ruined our image of SQ and we won't be returning in a hurry, which is extremely unfortunate due to its ideal location and...
