On arrival we sat for a good 10 mins without seeing anyone, we nearly left then. Finally got the menu. Pretty basic. Asked if we would like drinks both had diet coke were not asked about ice or lemon and when they arrived neither were in the warm coke. Order taken and arrived promptly bar having to ask twice for the curry sauce I had ordered. We were both a little shocked is see we had about 15 to 20 small chips on the plate along with a metal ice cream dish with mushy peas and the fish. Now we use the take away service occasionally and have always found the portion size good, but eating in this time was a disappointment. I did point out to the young waitress that the amount of chips was very small and she did add a few more. I feel the problem was the coupe of pea's taking up the room x We sat and ate and heard that the table near us could not have the sweet as it would not defrost and had to order another one. Another couple were trying to pay their bill but the waitresses see to be having a problem with the till, after 5 mins it took assistance from a rather unkempt "chef" to sort it out. We then heard a couple explaining clearly what they wanted and after repeating it twice and then resorting to single words , special with fish chips, peas and a brown roll and fish chips baked beans a white roll and 2 teas I was losing the will to live. A young couple came in and asked for a table and went to sit at one to be told that she had not finished cleaning it yet but instead of cleaning it and setting it up for them quickly , the cloth was left on the table and she walked away and the couple were ignored. The poor couple who had ordered to different rolls were told they had run out of brown rolls ( the Spar shop is only next door and it was only 6pm I sure they would have them ) Not the best experience we have had and we will be in a hurry to eat in again. Oh they did knock the coke's off the bill due to us waiting !! But No apology about the amount of chips though. Such a shame as the...
Read moreChips are cooked in beef dripping and this is not advertised anywhere so as a veggie I couldn't eat any. Took 30 minutes with no one else in the queue to prepare my order which was only 3 kids fish and chips and haddock and chips. Ordered whitebait too which came out ok. Had to ask for the kids chips to be put in some grease proof paper first rather than straight in the kids box which has been sat on a shelf somewhere unhygienic. Portion size was poor. Only one staff member serving and one cooking. Really ridiculously slow service, we in fact had time to change our car tyre whilst waiting. Ordered a curry sauce but didn't get it. Chips looked brown and over done. Yuk yuk yuk. Gross all round, will never go again. Last time we went which was years ago the chips were not cooked through should've learnt our lesson...
Read moreVisited on Friday evening for the first time in ages and we were not disappointed. We received the same great and swift service that we had experienced last time we ate there. Lovely warm atmosphere and the highlight, of course, was rhe delicious food. My wife and I were going to have the Seabass fish cakes but were disappointed to find out they no longer do them. So, we went for a new menu item, the mozzarella and haddock fishcakes....they were absolutely amazing and came wrapped in a thick, crispy batter. Accompanied by a portion of perfectly cooked chips, mushy peas and scraps, of course and all washed down with a pot of tea for 2...marvellous. Many thanks to all at Elite in Sleaford for a great chippy experience. Keep up...
