We went to the Barge & Bottle today after being at my son’s cold and wet football match needing some warm comfort food. All of us thoroughly enjoyed what we had & the service was great! My daughter’s steak was cooked exactly to her liking, my chicken curry was lovely & my husband’s fish & chips were nice and fresh. I’ve left a picture of my son’s gammon steak as he was very impressed by it. Good portion sizes at a good price & served quickly. I would recommend. I only put 4 stars for atmosphere as it was quite a quiet evening probably because of the rain!.

Lots of choices on the dedicated vegan menu (which is what interested us), and of course lots of food for non vegans. You can tell that the chef has given a lot of attention to the vegan options. We had the battered mushrooms with sweet chilli dip for starters, vegan lasagne, (small) salad and chips and shared the fruit crumble with passion fruit sorbet. It was all delicious. I would certainly go back next time we're in the area. (I would only give 5 stars to fully vegan places).

Excellent food. Good choice of menu and reasonably priced. Curly fries are a must! Friendly and helpful staff. We had our Wedding Reception here and Mick and Donna went out their way to make our day very special. Nothing was too much trouble. I have two friends that are Celiac and they said it was the best Gluten free meal they had eaten. I highly recommend this friendly pub.

We visited for lunch, we arrived slightly later, around 13:30 and so the restaurant area was beginning to quieten down. There wasn't a huge selection of items that we would consider suitable for lunch but I imagine we could have chosen anything from the main menu.

We both ordered the barbeque chicken baguette with chips and a side salad. We waited a while for our food to be cooked, I'm always slightly suspicious when the meal arrives a few minutes after ordering and we were happy to wait, the restaurant area is comfortable and reasonably quiet. We have visited this establishment in the evening when it has been anything but quiet.

Our drinks arrived first, they were 2 well known options of draft cider available, the glasses were clean and the drinks chilled. Being offered a beer coaster to stand them on, condensation dripping 8n your lap while you're talking is distracting but we coped.

When the meal arrived, served on a slate, what's wrong with plates (okay I admit it I'm not hugely in to replacing a perfectly good item with one less well suited simply for the purposes of aesthetics and I am in training to be a grumpy old man.

The food was excellent, I'm not much of a fan of chips but these were wonderful, served in a rather silly wire basket so they went cold pretty quickly, the couldn't put them on the slate of course p, they'd have fallen off. Plates for meals, slates for roofs, there, I've got that out of my system.

The panini was really nice, it hadn't been cooked to the biscuit like state I have seen it served, requiring you to eat it with your hands while the hot contents drop in to your lap, that condensation does have a potential use after all.

In summary a great lunch, we will certainly...

BIG CREDIT WHERE CREDIT IS DUE.

Whilst visiting Sleaford this morning on business, I asked a local shopkeeper for a recommendation where to go to for a breakfast and coffee. Two staff members simultaneously said "The Barge And Bottle" so that was where I walked to. As a stranger I was warmly greated, asked what I would like and invited to a clean, nicely set table. The latte promptly came followed shortly by THE BEST FULL ENGLISH I truly have had. ... Really good portion. ... Hot and fresh ... Well presented ... Gorgeous mushrooms ... Deliciously cooked local bacon ... Eggs done to perfection

All enjoyed with a very nice latte. The very hospitable manager lady (Donna) asked me if all was OK shortly after my breakfast arrived and I felt so respectfully obliged to give my full praise and compliments. When the chef Lee popped out I also complimented him for such a delightful meal and enquired which local suppliers they used it was sooooooo delicious and would be worth visiting them myself too. If I could wish for one thing, it would be that my visits to the Sleaford area could be more frequent as I would make time to detour to the Barge and Bottle each TIME, because of its all round Quality and Exceptional value for money. It was also a bonus to use such nice clean Gents on departure. AGAIN WELL DONE TO ALL THE TEAM AND THANK YOU.

"Ps. I must really say to any fellow trip advisor users that no trip to Sleaford can possibly be complete without a visit here." HAPPY DAYS. " Date of visit: 20th December 2018 The...

I've been going here for meals quite a lot recently. It started when my partner went here for a meal with her family when I was in hospital. She was tired from all the running around so her mum took her for lunch. The next day, when she came to visit me at the hospital, she explained how lovely the grilled salmon meal she had was. So when I got home and was feeling better, we went out for some dinner. We've also had a couple of Sunday lunches here. Very recently, I wanted to take her for lunch. The place we so often went to was closed , it was just after New Years, so they were probably having a break. Anyway, we went to The Barge & Bottle, and I ordered a breakfast. My partner didn't really know what she wanted. She had been set on going to the previous place and was looking forward to her meal there. After chatting with a very friendly member of staff, they told her that they would make it for her even though it wasn't actually on the menu. She also explained that everything they cook is fresh food and it would not be a problem. Fifteen or so minutes later, our meals arrived, and my partner couldn't believe how nice they had made it. So that was quite impressive. It was explained to us that in the future, you want something that isn't on the menu ask, and we'll try to accommodate as best as we can. So definitely a ten out of ten for all...
